A Sweet Cup of Coffey

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 AAE, all about equine animal rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

Every horse has a story, and we want you to know theirs.

This October, we’re sharing the story of a sweet girl who just might be the perfect pick-me-up. We’ll take a closer look at where she came from, who she is today, and what kind of home might be the right fit for her.

By spotlighting one horse at a time, we hope you’ll get to know them beyond their adoption bio, and maybe discover a horse who catches your eye, or someone you know who could be their perfect match.

So grab your coffee and get to know this sweet girl…

COFFEY

Coffey, an approximately 25-year-old Arabian mare, arrived at AAE in late January 2026 after her elderly owners found themselves facing significant health and financial challenges. Saying goodbye to a horse they loved was not an easy decision, but surrendering Coffey gave them peace of mind that she would have the care, stability, and attention she needed.

Once she and completed quarantine and settled in at AAE, it was time to get Coffey caught up on some of the basics. She enjoyed a few well-earned spa days, including a hoof trim, dental care, vaccines, and deworming, she got a microchip. She was in good physical condition overall and has continued to do well.

Coffey is sweet, she’s sassy, and she has girlie opinions she’s not shy about sharing. She can be easy to handle and was good for the farrier, but she’s also a forward, higher-energy mare who likes to keep things interesting.

We were told Coffey was well-trained under saddle in her younger years, but she hasn’t been ridden for several years. We’re getting ready to see what she remembers, as we carefully begin reintroducing her to a saddle. That said, she has an arthritic knee, so she won’t be suitable as a regular riding horse. We’re hoping she has potential as a leadline “pony” for occasional littles to learn how amazing horses are. Perfect world, she’ll be a special non-riding companion to someone to share her horse smells and horse therapy for the rest of her days.

If you sound like a good match for Coffey, we’d love to hear from you! You can fill out our Adoption Inquiry form to get started.

Even if you can’t adopt, you can still help! Please share Coffey’s story with someone who might be willing and able to open their heart and home to her! Considersponsoring Coffey or another one of our AAE horses.

Chilly Pepper -UPDATE – Baby’s Injuries are worse than expected. Please help!

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Warrior Princess is a filly.

This was truly a dire emergency. Every minute counts with such a horrific injury, and we needed to get meds on board asap. I am so grateful I said yes to helping this filly. as her wounds are extremely serious, and potentially life threatening.

After our emergency vet visit, we have our plan. Warrior Princess has a gaping hole in her leg, almost as if someone took a huge bite out of her. There are bears, coyotes and wild dogs on the range. It was definitely NOT a cat attack. Her wound is to the bone. There are puncture wounds around the area as well.

She is on all sorts of meds and the clay is already pulling out the infection. She is a fighter, and the fact she survived the attack and is still here shows she is truly another “Miracle Mustang”.

** The truck is in the shop**, and I need $1500 to cover the rear brakes and Mama’s “bail”. We were offered the baby alone, but even the folks who called really wanted us to take Mama so they could stay together. That was a no brainer.

My trailer is 37 feet long, and extremely heavy. I cannot pull it knowing I needed rear brakes, so I had to get that done before I loaded up the horses to come home.

The next step is to get Mama’s bail covered and the truck repairs done. This will be a long, care intensive situation and hopefully she will survive and thrive.

THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP FOR THIS MAMA AND BABY!!!

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

September is here, and with it comes the start of a busy fall season at AAE! From caring for our horses at the ranch to helping at outreach events, and taking on all the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep things moving, our volunteers make so much of what we do possible.

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on a couple more of the incredible people who give their time, energy, and heart to AAE. We’re grateful for everything our volunteers do, and for the difference they make in the lives of the horses and animals in our care.

Meet Ashley B.!

What do you love about AAE and/or volunteering at AAE?

I love making relationships with the animals and seeing all of their personalities come out.

Who is your favorite AAE horse and why?

Clyde will always be my favorite. One eye’d Clyde and I formed a bond at a time that I needed it, and I will never forget him. Glad he’s been adopted to a loving home. But I still think about him often, and I’m grateful for his love!

What would you say to someone considering volunteering with AAE?

If you love animals… DO IT. If you are sad… DO IT. If you need to find friends… DO IT. If you want to give back to less fortunate… DO IT. AAE has brought me friendship, joy, and education.

Learn more about becoming an AAE volunteer below, and help us change lives, one horse at a time.

VOLUNTEER WISH LIST

Come join the team! We need volunteers to help in the following ways (and more):

· Outreach Volunteers: Draft Horse Classic is coming up this month! See above for more information about that specific opportunity. In general, if you like talking to people about horses and sharing your love for horses and AAE, join the Outreach Team to help represent AAE in the community at future events. Experience with AAE is helpful, but not necessary. If interested, or you would like more information, please submit an interest form, here.

· Tour Guides: AAE offers a monthly group tour to individuals interested in learning more about AAE, its history, volunteering, the work we do and how others can support the mission. We also offer private tours. If you’re interested in becoming a member of the tour guide team, please reply so we can set-up an introduction and training with Cristie, our Tour Team Coordinator.

· Special Projects Day: Saturday, September 19 and October 3, 2026, 9:30a to 2:00p, AAE Pilot Hill Ranch: Help make a difference for the horses, volunteers, and AAE. Here’s a way to make a meaningful difference in the daily care of 50-60 horses and other animals, and the people that care for them. We’re running out of time to hang some freshly painted plywood on the horse shelters to help provide better protection from the wind and rain this winter; we have some pre-winter organizing to do, too; and we always need help dumping manure bins (if you can operate a tractor). Those are a few of the projects we need immediate help with.

If you’re able to assist, please sign up here under “Facility and Special Projects”. New volunteers are always welcome! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mike.

· Barn Volunteers: Volunteers are the heart and soul of AAE who come out to the ranch each morning and afternoon to ensure the horses and other animals get the feed and care they need to heal on their journeys to good health and forever homes.

Help with caring for the animals is ALWAYS needed. Our feed and care shifts are 8:30a-12:30p and 3:00p-6:00p, daily. Afternoon shifts are greatest need of assistance, but all of the animals and volunteers can benefit from more support during any shift.

If you are new to AAE and would like to help or would like more information, fill out a Volunteer Interest Form here (no commitment required when exploring). All new volunteers participate in a New Volunteer Orientation and Basic Safety Training, and no experience is needed.

If you’ve already been through Orientation, and you’d like to sign up for a shift, click here.

· Facilities: Our facility is where our horses and other animals heal and begin to thrive. With 61-acres to maintain, there is a lot of day-to-day upkeep in ensuring our horses and volunteers have the best we can give. If you are a fix-it person or you like making improvements, especially for the good of the animals and the humans that help them, we have plenty fix-it projects, minor and major. If hanging gates, hanging plywood on shelters, improving fencelines, trimming trees, repairing plumbing, setting concrete anchors for shelters, operating a tractor, etc. are in your wheelhouse, we’d love for you to join the team that makes a better life for the horses and other animals that come into our care. New volunteers welcome! Let us know more about your interest here.

Sign up for small Facility Projects during any shift (e.g. mowing with garden tractor, weed-eating, small fence repairs, organizing tools/materials, emptying manure bins with the tractor, etc.). Advance communication (48 hours or more) will ensure we can plan ahead so we have materials, tool/equipment, fuel, etc. Reach out to Mike for planning, then sign up for a volunteer shift under Facility and Special Projects, here. If you’d like more information, submit a Volunteer Interest Form, here.

· AAE’s Used Tack Store: Volunteers help turn unwanted tack and other horse and ranch items into funding for the horses at our store in Shingle Springs. If you enjoy working with tack, chatting with store visitors, organizing inventory, or simply supporting the horses and other animals at AAE, volunteers make the store possible. Help one day or on a regular basis. We have a backlog of tack that we need help processing!! New volunteers welcome, no experience necessary!

Store hours are 12:00p-4:00p, daily. Organize, talk with customers, decorate the room, promote the store, organize a tack drive, etc. There are many ways your participation helps raise funds for horses-in-need. Interested, please complete a Volunteer Interest Form, here, or stop by the store to check it out: 4050 Durock Rd #6 in Shingle Springs.

If you’d like to help in some other way, share your interest, here.

Chilly Pepper -911 – Emergency Rescue in Progress. Badly Injured Baby

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Urgent plea for help! Today’s call came in and I simply could not say no to this one.

Stormy and I were literally on the road within 15 minutes, and we will be there tomorrow early afternoon. My leg is still basically broken and as I need another surgery, most of the time 4 or 5 hours of driving can cause enough pain to be distracted and unsafe.

I was called specifically because this baby needs intense critical care, and that is our specialty. Baby and Mama are both wild.

I need immediate help (PLEASE!!!!) with funds for fuel, $800 (JUST for the Diesel) maybe more? We need funds for Emergency vet care, meds, more clay, and feed for these two. I should probably get the brakes done on the truck prior to pulling home the loaded trailer as well.

Doc is already standing by. She will need to pull blood on Mama so we can get paperwork so I can bring them home. Baby sounds like he needs some serious help as well.

Hard to tell from the photos, but I was told he can hardly walk and needs medical asap.

Chilly Pepper -Urgent help needed ! Still short for matching funds offer

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Hi,

Thank you to everyone who has donated. We are still short about $187 towards the matching funds. Even after we are blessed with the matching funds, we still will need more help to complete the barn roof and work on securing enough hay for the winter.

The truck needs to be serviced and also needs brakes. It is just a part of life but always seems to come at the most difficult times. Much less expensive to maintain the equipment than let it break down.

I realize times are really tough for many of you out there, myself included. However, Chilly Pepper still needs more help to make sure we get the hay we need BEFORE the prices go up again. Every day the price of diesel rises and folks are buying what little hay is available, and that means it will cost less if we purchase now instead of later.

We still need funds to get that barn roof finished. I am working on as many adoptions as I can, but as most folks know, horses are being dumped at an alarming rate. I am having to say no everyday until we have enough hay and get some of these kids adopted.

Please don’t give up on us now. Even though times are exceedingly tough right now, we still need to keep saving lives and taking care of the horses you have saved. Thank You so much from all of the critters at Chilly Pepper!

Winter appears to be coming fast and hard. We are already seeing nights in the 30’s. Let’s keep these kids safe, warm and well fed.

A Bonus Tuesday: Meet the New Mustangs

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 AAE, all about equine animal rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

September has an extra Tuesday this year, so you’re getting a little bonus story from AAE! We thought we’d use this extra opportunity to introduce to you, a group of eight mustangs who recently came through our gates. Their stay with us is temporary for most, but each arrived needing a little help while plans for their final destinations were being made. Here’s a little more about these new arrivals and how AAE was able to help.

Last month, AAE got a call about a group of ten horses from one of our law enforcement friends. Their elderly owner needed assistance. A few weeks ago, AAE welcomed eight formerly “wild” horses: Chester, Spot, Snickers, Cowboy, Smudge, Snort, Suzi, and Spirit. They are mostly older and include BLM, state, and tribal mustangs. Two remained at home, as they were the most special needs, and two is much more manageable than ten.

Their mom had spent more than two decades advocating for and helping wild horses. The past few years have been hard on her after a serious injury, followed by additional health issues. Keeping up with the needs of her small herd of horses became more than she could manage without any help at home. Though she did the best she could, she couldn’t keep up.

What she really wanted was her kids to roam free again. Since AAE is currently deep with senior and special needs horses, it would have been difficult to take on another large group of senior horses long term.

That said, AAE and their mom went to work, and the stars aligned. With the help of two wonderful organizations, Wild Horse Sanctuary and LifeSavers Wild Horse Rescue, we were able to secure lifelong sanctuary placement for six of the eight horses.

With the support of a donation from the owner, we brought the eight horses to AAE a few weeks ago to update their health care needs before they transferred to sanctuary life. With the help of our amazing vet and farrier team, the horses had their dentals and vaccines updated, their hooves were trimmed, and they were set up for their final destinations.

The stars truly aligned, as there are so many horses in need, and sanctuaries are always full. We’re so grateful space was available for this group of horses!

Yesterday, four of the horses (Cowboy, Snickers, Chester, and Spot) made the journey north to Wild Horse Sanctuary. They were welcomed into their new home. They will make a slow transition into the herd where they’ll be able to roam free on 5,000-acres.

Two (Smudge and Snort) will make their journey to LifeSavers, tomorrow. The remaining two horses (Suzi and Spirit) are the oldest of the bunch. They will stay at AAE until we can find another sanctuary placement or a forever home. They are two hardy ol’ kids that were Owner’s riding horses.

Every horse’s story takes a different path, and sometimes rescue means being the safe stop along the way rather than the final destination. We are beyond grateful to be part of such an amazing network of individuals and organizations working together to give these mustangs the care and placement they need.

Who do you sponsor?

Kix

What inspired you to become a horse sponsor?

My love of all animals and nature. And knowing the success of All About Equine and their excellent care of the horses and their strong and diligent adoption program.

What about your sponsored horse makes him/her special to you?

I’ve sponsored a few of the horses over the years. They all are special to me and I am filled with happiness and gratitude when they find their new and loving owners/caretakers.

What does it mean to know your monthly sponsorship helps give horses in need the care and second chances they deserve?

It means that I am helping in a very important and meaningul mission in a way that I am able to personally. Having many horses myself I am very familiar with the great financial costs and much work in taking care of horses. I know how money contributions translate directly and quickly into the ability to provide not only for the basic needs of feed and housing, farrier and vet, but also to the extra and special things that make so much difference to the special needs horses.

Chilly Pepper – Meet Baby JJ Jr. Can we please fix his barn?

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Meet Baby JJ Jr. This little guy was born a few days ago, and he really needs our help. It has been in the low 40’s at night and getting colder at night.

He is healthy and happy, although a tiny bit thin as he is using lots of his energy to stay warm. With the weather turning so quickly, we simply must get the barn repaired and the new part of the roof on and the insulation replaced.

I need to get his Mama some extra groceries so she continues to produce lots of milk for JJ. She is a wonderful Mama.

We have an amazing MATCHING FUNDS OFFER for up to $1000 to help with barn repairs, the new roof and groceries for Mama.

Sadly every time we fix one thing on the tractor and it starts running stronger another old part decides it can’t keep up. So she is still needing more repairs, so hopefully we are getting closer to her being usable.

Thank you as always for every penny donated. Y’all are amazing and it is so wonderful to share this baby as her Mama was extremely thin and unhealthy when we rescued her. Thanks to you, she is thriving and her son is amazing.

Please help us fix his barn so he can grow up warm, strong and healthy.

Chilly Pepper -Tractor 911 -Tractor down and we need it to feed every day.

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equine welfare 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

QUICK UPDATE – Our tractor needs your help asap!

$975 needed for repairs. This is really an emergency for the rescue.

The tractor we have is old and held together with rubber bands and duck tape, but she does the job and we use her EVERY DAY to feed and for cleaning the pens.

If you would like to help keep our old girl running and get her the parts needed, it would be so appreciated. With so many horses, who are all thriving and happy btw, it is imperative she gets fixed.

We need about $975 for the repairs and the labor.

* Went to the surgeon on Tuesday, and he is talking about a different surgery which would leave me 3 months in a straight hard cast, and will give me no pain relief whatsoever, but could possibly keep me upright to take care of the animals. Right now I am starting with a different brace, which may or may not be covered by Medicare. Sadly I HAVE to wear the brace, so please say a prayer the new one is covered by Medicare and it keeps me able to “git ‘er done”.

I am trying to get winter hay stocked up, but the silly horses keep eating it. Seriously though, we still need alot more hay than we have now, and I am so grateful for everyone’s help in making this happen. You guys rock and it is such a joy to see all the horses doing so well. We have quite a few old timers, and good feed is so important for them to do well this winter.

Hugs and thank you,

If You Don’t Know Jack, You Should!

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 AAE, all about equine animal rescue, Equine Rescue 0

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

You don’t know Jack? Well, some of you do, and others may be meeting him for the first time. Either way, there’s a lot more to this handsome mustang than meets the eye. Jack has been with AAE for quite some time, and his journey has been one of patience, persistence, and learning to trust. Whether you’ve known Jack or you are just getting acquainted, his story is worth knowing.

JACK

This handsome guy, Jack, came to AAE in February 2021 with his buddy, Nash. A big, handsome 2008-ish tribal mustang, Jack had spent roughly half his life at a sanctuary before arriving at AAE following a law enforcement intervention. He had lived in a herd of about a dozen horses and two donkeys, but as far as we know, he had never been touched or haltered.

When Jack arrived, he was calm, cool, and easy-going, but he had a very firm bubble. You could approach him, but crossing that invisible line was another story. In smaller spaces, he lost confidence and became reactive.

Jack has had amazing opportunities to learn and grow, including participating in a five-day workshop with Patrick Sullivan of Modern Day Horsemanship and spending several months at the Monty Roberts International Learning Center, where he was a project horse for the wild horse gentling and handling course and interns. He made progress. He became touchable across his body, and once haltered, much easier to handle. That first touch and haltering remains most difficult for him.

Today, he’s halterable in a small space and his confidence with humans is growing. His progress is slow, but it’s progress. His bubble is much smaller, and with patience and kindness, you can move through. He’s learning, little by little, that people can be trusted. At AAE, he’s getting intermittent handling to continue progress, though he’ll benefit from more frequent and consistent handling.

Jack isn’t a horse who needs someone focused on how quickly he can be ridden. He needs someone willing to build a relationship first. He needs patience and consistency. Slow, steady, daily work will do wonders. A pasture environment with a small paddock and/or round pen for continued groundwork is ideal.

Jack is a long-term project, and he’ll take a special-skilled person to become a trustworthy riding horse. Underneath all that uncertainty is a gentle soul who is trying to overcome his fears. For Jack, earning trust isn’t about one big breakthrough, it’s about all those little moments that slowly build that special connection.

Jack is still waiting for the person who is willing to take that journey with him. He or she has no motives beyond Jack becoming the best he can be. We know you’re out there!

If you sound like a good match for Jack, we’d love to hear from you! You can fill out our Adoption Inquiry form to get started.

Even if you can’t adopt, you can still help! Please share Jack’s story with someone who might be willing and able to open their heart and home to him!

Chilly Pepper -Hay Shortage Crisis, A happy Sea Tac, A Small Vet Bill, and time to stock up on hay.

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, Horses 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

QUICK UPDATE – More fires – A bigger hay emergency

Chilly Pepper is looking for help to stock up on hay. Every single fire is adding to higher hay prices and a well known critical shortage for the winter.

If you would like to help us make sure we can keep the critters well fed this winter, any help towards hay is much appreciated.

We only owe Doc Zimmerman about $500-600 to pay off the latest bill, so any help with that is also appreciated. 775-623-0981

SeaTac is loving life and has such a huge personality. Thank you so much for helping us with him.

The horses and animals at Wynema Ranch all have a safe place to go to. Shari wanted them to come to Chilly Pepper, but there are some issues behinds the scenes so I am not sure how many we will be getting. Michael is taking care of them and the vet is coming out to make sure what needs done is being done.

As the healing starts, all I can do is make sure all our animals will have enough feed for winter and that the three horses I already picked up to help Shari are given a little extra TLC. Prayers for Eddie are much appreciated.

Thank you for helping me stock up on winter hay. These fires are decimating hay supplies and pasture like crazy. Add the drought conditions and it is simply terrifying to think there could be no more hay to buy. Right now we have hay available to purchase, so it is absolutely necessary to secure it. Our horses all appreciate you, and so do I.

Hugs and thank you,

The 12′ x 12′ stall paddocks need six stall mats each, and the 12′ x 16′ stalls need eight. Can you help with one, two, or even a complete paddock?

Here’s what your gift can provide:

$45: One new stall mat

$270: A complete set of 6 stall mats for a 12′ x 12′ paddock (4 needed)

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

YOU DID IT – THANK YOU!!

You did it! The stall mats have been ordered!

Thank you for showing up for the horses! You are such an amazing community, and we were truly “floored” by your quick response and incredible generosity. In just a few hours, you provided all 120 mats needed for the new Healing Horses Barn paddocks! We were also able to order some extras to replace some of the older mats in the mare motel.

Because of you, the horses will have softer, more comfortable spaces to stand, rest, and recover, and these mats will benefit horses for years to come.

You really put the “mat” in “matter” and showed us just how much this community cares.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your incredible generosity.

Remembering Our Sweet Dakota

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 AAE, all about equine animal rescue, equines 0

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

DAKOTA

2023-2026

It is with a broken heart that I share that we lost our sweet boy, Dakota, this past Friday.

Many of you knew and loved Dakota through the photos and stories we’ve shared; others through your time volunteering with the horses at AAE. He had such a special presence, the happiest, most goofy, and incredibly sweet little guy who loved people, greeted you in the barn, followed you everywhere, waited at the gate, tagged along to the barn, and was almost always alongside or standing over his best pal, Louise. You never had to look far, and there he was.

Dakota got very sick this last month, but he was responding really well to treatment. He was improving every day, and for his last few days, he was truly himself again, happy, goofy, loving and enjoying life. There was every reason to be hopeful.

Suddenly, Friday morning, something had changed. He was extremely painful and uncomfortable, and the heartbreaking decision was made to let him go as peacefully as possible.

This special guy wasn’t even 3 years old. He had already overcome so much in his short life, from abandonment on the streets, getting hit by a car, and having a major hip surgery. He took it all in stride, recovered well, and became such a bright light at the rescue. You couldn’t help but smile and feel his love when he leaned into say hello. We thought we had so many years ahead of us.

Needless to say, he weaseled his way deep into my heart, and I am absolutely crushed. If you see Lou and I at the barn, I can’t talk yet about losing him. I know any questions come from love and concern, and I hope everyone will understand.

I’m grateful beyond words for the little time we had and that his last days were incredibly good days. He was home, he was happy as could be, he was his ol’ self, and he knew how very much he was loved.

Rest easy, sweetest boy. I know you’ll be watching over us all. We should have had so much more time.

Chilly Pepper -RIP my beautiful Shari. First load of hay, a water tank and dog food tomorrow.

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, equines 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

QUICK UPDATE – RIP MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND SHARI

Hi, I am feeling so broken. My friends Eddie & Shari Floyd were in the Bug Fire. I called to help evacuate, but the fire went the other way.

There was a fire tornado and it turned back over the mountain. The neighbor woke them up to evacuate. They were to the road (there driveway is a mile long) but went back for her dog.

The car caught fire, they had to get out and try to run. They were both disabled and they caught on fire. It knocked them down and Eddie tried to cover Shari and they layed together holding each other and praying while the fire burned over them.

Shari died yesterday from her body being burned over 40% and Eddie has over 30% of his body burned. The house didn’t burn and the dog died anyway.

It looks like we may be taking a crippled donkey, a pig, possibly some chickens, dogs and maybe a cat, and providing a home for one of her workers who just got out of the hospital with Colon cancer, has no family, nowhere to go and lost everything in the fire. I will either help place or bring home 2 other horses, 2 mustangs and 2 seniors with special needs. At this point it is just trying to get through each day.

I am broken in a way I have not previously been. Tomorrow I deliver some hay, a water tank, dog food and some clothes for Michael. I am working with Shari’s son, Animal Control and the property owner as well as some other folks to get all the animals safe in a smooth transition.

Please pray. I am sorry this is such horrible news, but I always share the reality, and this is what we are going through. Eddie and Shari didn’t deserve this. If we end up with Michael and all the other animals moving over, i will probably need help with that. At this point I am reeling and hopefully making sense. I just want to wake up from this horror. Hug your loved ones while you can.

Hugs and thank you,

Chilly Pepper – Fire Update, Hay update and SEATAC is home. Thank you!!

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, equine welfare, equines 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

QUICK UPDATE

Thank you for the hay donations for Shari & Eddie. We have enough to cover a trailer load for them. As we are not certain how long the horses will remain there, this particular fundraiser has ended.

HOWEVER, LOL, We are now working on hay for Chilly Pepper. There was an existing shortage months ago before the horrific fires and the drought. We NEED to have a stock pile to make sure our horses have feed.

It is going to be so bad for the horses. All their feed has burned, hay fields have burned and folks cannot afford them.

SEATAC is home, safe and sound. Thank you for stepping up for him. A load of hay is now about $6200. If anyone would like to help our kids with their hay supply, it is much appreciated.

Y’all are so amazing and I know we can get through these tough times.

Eddie and Shari are still in the hospital. Please, please say a prayer for them.

A Little Believin’ Goes A Long Way

The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

At AAE, we don’t stop believin’ in second chances, and neither do our volunteers!

That belief is part of what brings people to AAE and what keeps them coming back. This month, we’re getting to know some of our newer, wonderful volunteers, learning a little more about their AAE story, and finding out what makes volunteering here so special to them.

What do you love about AAE and/or volunteering at AAE?

I have been a long-time customer and donor to AAE. My last senior horse passed away in April of 2025, and I truly missed the equine world after 35+ years of continuous horse ownership. When the opportunity came to volunteer at the AAE Used Tack Store, I decided this was my way to stay connected to the horse community and help this fantastic organization. Being a Store Lead has allowed me to not only assist customers, but also learn about all disciplines of horse tack. I’ve also been able to put my inventory management and operational skills to use in simplifying the saddle log book and helping to increase our social media presence by listing all our available saddles online. All the store leads do such a great job of keeping the donation cycle turning over into sales that benefit the rescue horses.

Who is your favorite AAE horse and why?

I have a crush on Toothless. He has such a fun and goofy personality.

What would you say to someone considering volunteering with AAE?

There are so many opportunities to make a difference. All skills are needed, and if you have the desire to learn, there is ample opportunity to make an impact. At the tack store, don’t be afraid if you don’t have specific knowledge of certain tack. You can easily research via the internet, ask another store lead, or ask the customer to show you a picture of the item they are looking for.

Meet Leslie A.!

AAE Volunteer for 7 months!

What do you do as an AAE Volunteer?

I started volunteering at the ranch on Feb 14, 2026, working the Monday evening shift. When it got too hot for me, I decided to try volunteering at the Used Tack Store in Shingle Springs. I have also helped with the Boots and Bling fundraiser, and will be volunteering at the Tri County Home Show in Roseville, soon.

What do you love about AAE and/or volunteering at AAE?

My passion for horses has been with me since I was about 10 years old. I got my first horse when I was 14 and my last horse passed away in October 2023. But my passion is still with me. Volunteering at the ranch was amazing. Seeing these beautiful souls flourish there and be handled with so much love and caring, realizing the situations they came from, just warmed my heart. They are all being given a chance for a wonderful life that perhaps they would have never received. And the best part is seeing them get adopted out to their forever homes, where they will continue to be loved and cared for, for the rest of their lives. Simply put, it’s one of the most rewarding experiences to watch them evolve from where they came from to what they’ve become.

Who is your favorite AAE horse and why?

I love them all. But, Tiny, the giant draft, took my heart the first time I saw her. Her eyes told me everything, besides the fact she’s absolutely beautiful. And little Ginny is as cute and sweet as anything. I loved hand walking her, and let her graze on the grass that she absolutely loved.

What would you say to someone considering volunteering with AAE?

Do it! Don’t hesitate. It is so rewarding. And the volunteers out at the ranch are great. If you enjoy talking with people, and helping them find the tack they need, or just tell them to take their time and browse, then volunteer at the store. I have met the nicest people there, and I especially appreciate the returning customers!

Thank You

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS WEEK!

Our outreach team will be at the Tri-County Home & Garden Show in Roseville, THIS WEEK on August 14-16! We really need a few more volunteers to make this event possible.

If you’ve never attended an outreach event before, don’t worry! No experience is necessary.

Volunteers are needed:

· Saturday, August 15: 1:30-5:30pm (1 spot)

· Sunday, August 16: 1:30-5:30pm (1 spots)

Volunteers will get complementary passes to the event and parking, so you’ll be able to enjoy the show before or after your shift.

If you’ve signed up, stay tuned, more info is coming very soon!

Please sign up here under “Outreach Activities”.

Thank you in advance!

Learn more about becoming an AAE volunteer below, and help us change lives, one horse at a time.

VOLUNTEER WISH LIST

Come join the team! We need volunteers to help in the following ways (and more):

· Outreach Volunteers: We have a few more outreach events coming up soon! If you like talking to people about horses and sharing your love for horses and AAE, join the Outreach Team to help represent AAE in the community. Experience with AAE is helpful, but not necessary. If interested, or you would like more information, please submit an interest form, here.

· Special Projects Day: Saturday, September 5, 2026, 9:30a to 2:00p, AAE Pilot Hill Ranch: Help make a difference for the horses, volunteers, and AAE. Here’s a way to make a meaningful difference in the daily care of 50-60 horses and other animals, and the people that care for them. We still need to hang some freshly painted plywood on the horse shelters to help provide more shade this summer and better protection from the wind and rain this winter; prep for our new gate; and we always need help dumping manure bins (if you can operate a tractor). Those are a few of the projects we need immediate help with.

If you’re able to assist, please sign up here under “Facility and Special Projects”. New volunteers are always welcome! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mike.

· Barn Volunteers: Volunteers are the heart and soul of AAE who come out to the ranch each morning and afternoon to ensure the horses and other animals get the love and care they need to heal on their journeys to good health and forever homes.

Help with caring for the animals is ALWAYS needed. Our feed and care shifts are 8:30a-12:30p and 3:00p-6:00p. Afternoon shifts are greatest need of assistance, but all of the animals and volunteers can benefit from more support during any shift.

If you’ve already been through Orientation, and you’d like to sign up for a shift, click here.

If you’d like to help in some other way, share your interest, here.

Chilly Pepper – Only $1435 needed to save Sea Tac

Kyle Davidson Equine Rescue 2026 chilly pepper equine rescue, Equine Rescue, Horses 0

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

WE ONLY NEED $1435 TO SAVE SEATAC

Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help our Senior Guy!

Quick Update

Received an emergency call for a senior horse. SeaTac is in his twenties, and I was contacted to see if we could take him. I do NOT have a photo of SeaTac.

This is a BEHIND THE SCENES, no publicity deal. NO SOCIAL MEDIA! In the 20 plus years I have been doing this, we had two who came from the “direct ship” and they were considered “behind the scenes”. The seller had told the shipper they wanted them to ship and he couldn’t save them. You Did Save Them!!!!, because we did what we were asked.

SeaTac is NOT a direct ship, but I was told this needs to stay quiet due to family stuff. The family asked us to handle it this way, and I am doing what I said.

SeaTac has been extremely well cared for. He simply needs to move from where he is at and Chilly Pepper was their only choice.

We need $2500 and that includes funds to help care for him, brand inspection, any vetting needed etc.

We only have 3 days and PLEASE do not post this to your social media. Help me get him home to Chilly Pepper so he can live out his life being loved and spoiled.

SeaTac is counting on you as I cannot fundraise for this horse on line. Let’s bring him home.

We just had a baby adopted, so that opened up a space for SeaTac. God’s timing is pretty awesome.

All the other horses are doing well. Tabitha is figuring it out and seems pretty comfortable.
