This was truly a dire emergency. Every minute counts with such a horrific injury, and we needed to get meds on board asap. I am so grateful I said yes to helping this filly. as her wounds are extremely serious, and potentially life threatening.
After our emergency vet visit, we have our plan. Warrior Princess has a gaping hole in her leg, almost as if someone took a huge bite out of her. There are bears, coyotes and wild dogs on the range. It was definitely NOT a cat attack. Her wound is to the bone. There are puncture wounds around the area as well.
She is on all sorts of meds and the clay is already pulling out the infection. She is a fighter, and the fact she survived the attack and is still here shows she is truly another “Miracle Mustang”.
** The truck is in the shop**, and I need $1500 to cover the rear brakes and Mama’s “bail”. We were offered the baby alone, but even the folks who called really wanted us to take Mama so they could stay together. That was a no brainer.
My trailer is 37 feet long, and extremely heavy. I cannot pull it knowing I needed rear brakes, so I had to get that done before I loaded up the horses to come home.
The next step is to get Mama’s bail covered and the truck repairs done. This will be a long, care intensive situation and hopefully she will survive and thrive.
