Chilly Pepper – 36.5 HOURS LEFT – Clock is ticking on 3 stallions and a Pregnant Mare!!
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

FIVE MORE KIDS NEED HELP ASAP!
I literally just got another 911 call for ANOTHER 5 more lives. I was told these kids were in a group of 10. The other 5 were sold to a kill buyer and have already shipped.
Today we were given the chance to help out the remaining 3 very wild stallions and the Pregnant Mama. So not only 5 on Saturday, but ANOTHER 5 lives need IMMEDIATE HELP!
I need to say YES in less than 37 hours. I have to commit by 9 a.m. on Friday morning. With a total of 10 new horses in one week, I need to order another load of hay, and the vet bill is going to be very big with the special needs mare we just got and to geld all the stallions.
Everyone is always angry about having to pull them from the slaughter pens, and we have the chance to keep them home in Nevada. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not let them down.
I know I am wound right now. It is alot, but I need y’all to help me save them.
I KNOW WE CAN DO THIS. The goal is $8000 so we can responsibly say YES, order another load of hay, feed all the new kids and get the needed medical done. This will also cover getting them delivered to Chilly Pepper, so that is also a big win.
These kids are young, so once they have some training we should be able to adopt them out. In the meantime, THEY NEED HELP NOW!!!
Just wanted to make sure y’all knew they were safe even though the fund raising wasn’t completed.
THANK YOU from all the critters!!
Please help and share far and wide.
THANK YOU, MY CHILLY PEPPER FAMILY, FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE! YOU ROCK!!!

It’s a Regular Noah’s Ark Over Here!
The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:
March has kept us on our toes!
In addition to the regular busy-ness of the barn, we’ve had new arrivals, we have adoptions on the horizon, and we’ve had plenty of heartwarming moments in between.
We welcomed not one, not two, but three pairs of friends. (It’s starting to feel a little like Noah’s Ark around here…)
We also have several adoptions pending, with some lucky horses heading off to their forever homes in the coming weeks.
Let’s dive in and meet the new arrivals…
NEW ARRIVALS:
WYATT + RUGER

These big boys were stallions that ended up at a nearby law enforcement agency, part of a large group that were in an ongoing issue. They had been running with a herd, and were a bit standoffish. Both had chronic leg wounds that began treatment at the shelter. Over time, all but the stallions were adopted. When we were contacted, they had been waiting quite a while for their second chance at a better life. Now they’re here with us, settling in and moving forward. Thankfully, they were both castrated and had updated veterinary care before we picked them up. With their frequent bandage changes, they were becoming more appreciative of the humans who were helping them! Both are healing on their path to brighter futures.

Wyatt is a mighty handsome 20-ish gelding. By the time he landed at AAE, his leg wound had healed. He’s a mellow and willing guy, and we look forward to learning more about him in the weeks to come.

Ruger is also quite the handsome gent. He was estimated mid-20s, but it’s hard to believe with his youthful appearance. He lost an eye at some point in his past, no details are know, but he is impressibly well-adjusted to his univision. Ruger’s leg has nearly healed, and he’s been a real trooper through treatment and bandage changes. He’s also a laid back and willing guy, and we eager to learn more about him in the weeks to come.
Both are a bit studdy when other horses are nearby, so as we gear up to explore their training, we’ll work on transitioning them back to cohabitating, without the influences of testosterone. Each will be available for adoption, soon.
BEAR + JJ

Brother, Bear, and sister, JJ, are two year old (ish) siblings that also arrived from the same agency, and they’ve already stolen plenty of hearts. With a German Shepherd mom and an Anatolian/Mastiff dad, these two are as impressive as they are lovable. They’re incredibly well-behaved, mild-mannered, respectful, and eager to please. Volunteers describe them as easygoing, responsive, and just plain big loves. It’s no surprise they’ve quickly become favorites.

Before leaving the shelter, JJ was spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and she’s been heartworm tested and started on meds. She is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She loves attention and walks around the ranch, and she’ll sit by you side or lay on your lap for eons. She’s a lovely, lovely girl!

Bear was neutered when he visited the shelter earlier in his short life, at about six months old. He’s up to date with vaccines, and he’s microchipped. He was also heartworm tested and started on meds. This big guy is a gentle old soul. He loves attention and enjoys his walk, too. He’s a bit more independent than JJ, but an absolute love nonetheless.
Bear and JJ are available for adoption, and their future person will be one lucky parent! We would love to see these two go to a new home together. They are big dogs and they’re looking for a home with room to roam. They have a history of wandering, so their new home should have a big yard with secure fencing. They have guardian tendencies, and they need an experienced person to guide them in the right direction. Are you their person?
Chilly Pepper – QUICK UPDATE – The Kids are Here. Doc is coming tomorrow??? Please help!
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Meet the FIVE new kids……. Thank you to everyone who has helped so far.
All the kids made it here safe and sound.
As you can see, there is some serious work to be done on the “2”. Both need their feet done, and if I can raise enough funds I really want to get xrays of Chiquita’s feet. I have never ever seen a neck so large. With the condition of her feet, it would be wonderful to be able to get some xrays of her hooves to see where her coffin bones are.
Grandma Gracie says “thank you”. She already went through the last $800 plus load of feed. She is basically living off grain. She still looks so sad but she has the brightest, calmest happiest eyes I have ever seen. Her light literally shines out of those beautiful eyes. Her coat is starting to get shiny and soft, instead of feeling like a brillo pad.
Please know how much your love and support matters. I imagine Chiquita’s care could be a bit spendy to start with. I know she needs farrier care immediately and I really want those xrays.
Just wanted to make sure y’all knew they were safe even though the fund raising wasn’t completed.

Chilly Pepper – Frantic Friday – We need YOUR HELP to pick up 5, yes FIVE mustangs this weekend!
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Today turned into Frantic Friday. We need to get all 5 of these mustangs to Chilly Pepper by tomorrow.
Dakota’s surgery went very well. The good news is that we ONLY have about $1500 left on the vet bill. That is important as Doc has to come out on Monday for the new kids coming into NV. We need to get this bill wrapped up asap so we can get the vetting done on Monday.
There are Five Mustangs who need you now!! Amazing news – 3 of them have their Transport, Vetting and Paperwork sponsored. We just need to pay off the old vet bill, and cover the costs for the other special needs kids. We will need to get more hay ASAP, (different kinds for the special needs kids) We need funds for immediate farrier care for the new kids and Tuesday is Hoofer Day with the drafts also getting their much needed trims. It won’t be cheap, but is so necessary.
I am not excited about adding 5 more mouths to feed, but these kids needed us asap due to some serious health issues with the amazing folks who had been caring for them.
Thank you for all you do, and once again I am asking for serious help to make sure we can get these kids here now. This was a very last-minute rescue and they need help now!!!
THANK YOU from all the critters!! Please help and share far and wide.

We have a chance to stop the loophole sending wild horses to slaughter
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
America’s wild horses are icons of the West — symbols of freedom, resilience, and the spirit of our public lands.
But today, thousands of these animals remain vulnerable to slaughter.
A dangerous loophole allows so-called “kill buyers” to purchase horses and ship them across U.S. borders to slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada. Some of those horses have been proven to come directly from the federal government itself.
Through the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Sale Authority program, wild horses can be sold with minimal limitations, creating a pathway where animals removed from public lands can ultimately end up in the slaughter pipeline.
That’s why Congress must pass the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act.
TAKE ACTION
The SAFE Act (H.R. 1661) would finally close the slaughter pipeline for good. Instead of relying on temporary spending restrictions that must be renewed every year, the bill would create a permanent federal ban on the transport and sale of horses for slaughter.
It would also ensure that wild horses remain protected even after they leave federal custody — closing the dangerous gap that exists today when a Mustang is adopted or sold.
Because the bill is being advanced as an amendment to the Farm Bill, it has a real opportunity to move forward in Congress.
But lawmakers need to hear from the American public that protecting our wild horses matters.
Please take a moment today to urge your members of Congress to support the SAFE Act today.
TAKE ACTION
Thank you for your support,
AWHC Team
We’re fighting for equines everywhere — will you help?
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
Yesterday we asked you to speak up for the Ejiao Act, a bill that would help shut down the global trade in donkey hides used to produce ejiao.
This trade kills millions of donkeys every year and causes tremendous suffering for animals and the communities who rely on them. Passing the Ejiao Act would be a major step toward ending that cruelty.
But laws alone are not enough.
Protecting equines — from America’s wild horses to working donkeys around the world — requires constant advocacy, investigation, and public pressure.
That’s the work we do every day.
From fighting cruel helicopter roundups… to pushing for humane fertility control… to supporting legislation that protects equines everywhere… American Wild Horse Conservation is on the front lines.
DONATE TODAY
Together, we can build a future where all equines are treated with the dignity and protection they deserve.
Thank you for standing with us,
American Wild Horse Conservation

Chilly Pepper – Surgery time, More truck repairs and the kids would like more groceries!
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

When it rains it pours. We need around $4380? to pay the rest of the previous vet bill, the current vet bill, the wiring repairs not only for the trailer, but also the truck. The rodents here are heck on vehicle wiring. The truck repair for the oil leak has been moved to next week, as they need it overnight. The 3 big kids, Benny, Destiny, Mouse, and Grandma Gracie and Selena are going through bags of grain and groceries like crazy. On top of that, the good ole State of NV wants the property taxes for the rescue acres and all the barns. Just life in general, but a lot is hitting at once.
Dakota had his surgery yesterday, and he needed it done asap. He is going blind at an alarming rate, and I need to get him healed and turned into “a gelding” and move him over where he will run and live his life as one of our “blinds”. It would be extremely beneficial for him to meet the band and learn the property before he is fully blind. I led him through the gate and reached out to scratch his neck, and he nearly sent me sideways because he didn’t see where I was. He had a horrible reaction to some of the meds during surgery, and thankfully it didn’t kill him. It was terrifying to watch. Doc Ross and Doc Bonnie did their usual amazing job, and so far he is doing very well.
Your donation paid $1800 to the previous vet bill, and we had another person donate directly. We were short, but not by too much. However surgery isn’t cheap, so I need to focus on that bill again.
I cannot begin to express my thanks and appreciation for your love and support. The wonderful news is that today, all the kids are improving and gaining weight. Destiny’s eye is closing perfectly. Thank goodness Doc upped her meds when she had that infection.
I want to make sure y’all know that I am very aware that YOU and GOD are the reason this rescue does such amazing things. I simply could not do any of it without all of you. Again, I ask for your help. The animals need it. I will keep doing the work as long as I can, but I am just a tiny grain of sand on this rescue beach. You are the power behind it.

A bill that could stop a global animal crisis
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
Across the world, millions of donkeys are being killed each year to fuel a booming trade in ejiao — a gelatin made from donkey hides that is used in cosmetics and traditional medicine.
Demand for this product has exploded in recent years, driving a global trade that has devastated donkey populations and caused immense suffering. Donkeys are often stolen, transported long distances without food or water, and killed under inhumane conditions before their hides are processed.
The United States currently plays a role in this market as one of the largest importers of products containing ejiao. But Congress has a chance to change that.
The bipartisan Ejiao Act (H.R. 5544) would prohibit the transport, sale, and purchase in the United States of ejiao products and donkey hides used to produce them.
TAKE ACTION
Donkeys are vital partners for communities around the world — transporting food, water, and children to school.
They deserve protection from a global trade that treats them as disposable. Please take a moment to urge your lawmakers to support the Ejiao Act today.
Thank you for your support,
American Wild Horse Conservation
Two futures for America’s wild horses
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
Right now, America’s wild horses are facing two very different futures:
Future #1: The status quo.
Helicopter roundups continue to chase horses from our public lands, breaking apart families and sending animals into government holding facilities. Taxpayers spend $144 million every year on this cycle — and once captured, a single horse can cost up to $50,000 to house over their lifetime.
Or…
Future #2: A humane, science-based solution.
Fertility control using the reversible vaccine PZP prevents pregnancies while allowing horses to remain wild and free on the range with their families.
PZP is widely tested, scientifically-backed, and already proving effective. At American Wild Horse Conservation, we manage the largest wild horse fertility control program in the country, demonstrating that this approach can work at scale.
And it’s far more cost-effective:
- Lifetime government holding: up to $50,000 per horse
- Humane fertility control: about $3,500 for lifetime protection
Congress has already allocated $11 million for humane fertility control in the FY26 appropriations bill.
TAKE ACTION
Because the future of America’s wild horses depends on the choice we make today.
Thank you for standing with us.

Protecting Wild Horses for Generations to Come
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
We’re officially a month into the Year of the Horse, and at American Wild Horse Conservation, it’s already a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much.
America’s wild horses and burros embody freedom, resilience, and the spirit of the West. Yet protecting them requires constant vigilance, defending their right to live free on public lands, advocating for humane policies, and safeguarding the landscapes they call home.
The Year of the Horse is a time to celebrate these incredible animals. It’s also a time to ask an important question: How will we ensure wild horses remain protected for generations to come?
One meaningful way supporters choose to make a lasting impact is through a legacy gift.
By including American Wild Horse Conservation in your will or estate plans, you help ensure that the fight to protect wild horses continues long into the future. These gifts cost nothing today but provide powerful support for advocacy, habitat protection, and humane conservation efforts for years to come.
CREATE MY FREE WILL AND LEGACY
We’ve made it easier to take this step. Through our free partner FreeWill, you can create or update your will online in about 20 minutes.
You can also use this beneficiaries tool to review and update beneficiary designations on accounts like retirement plans and life insurance policies, another simple way many supporters choose to create a legacy for the causes they care about.
As we celebrate the Year of the Horse, we invite you to consider your role in protecting these iconic animals.
With gratitude,
American Wild Horse Conservation
Nevada wild horse roundups began Sunday
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
Over the weekend, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) quietly launched four wild horse roundups across Nevada — with just five days’ notice to the public. More than 2,500 wild horses and burros are now being targeted for removal from their homes on our public lands.
And because these operations are being conducted using bait-and-trap methods, the public is not allowed to observe them.
No observers.
No transparency.
No accountability.
PROTECT WILD HERDS
This is the plan the BLM began yesterday:
- Spring Mountains: 425 wild horses + 425 burros planned to be captured
- Pancake Complex: 300 horses to be removed
- Caliente Complex: 350 horses to be removed
- Antelope & Triple B Complex: 1,000 horses to be targeted
That’s 2,500 wild horses and burros being removed from Nevada’s public lands — largely out of the public eye.
These captures come after two “emergency” roundups were already carried out earlier this year, with the agency still refusing to release a full 2026 roundup schedule for public review.
In fact, American Wild Horse Conservation recently sent a formal letter to the Bureau of Land Management requesting that the agency immediately release its roundup schedule so the public can understand what is being planned for our federally protected wild horses.
But instead of transparency, the agency is moving forward with removals without a clear plan — and without allowing the public to witness what’s happening on the ground.
Wild horses belong on our public lands, and the public deserves transparency when the government removes them. That’s why this March, we’re mobilizing advocates across the country for a Month of Action to protect America’s wild horses and burros.
TAKE ACTION
We will continue monitoring these operations closely and will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
Thank you for standing up for America’s wild horses and burros,
AWHC Team
Ends TOMORROW: Carry the spirit of the wild horse with you

Chilly Pepper – More help needed. RIP my beautiful girl…
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Heartbreak and the gift of peace.
Wendy was a wild mustang who came to Chilly Pepper after being horribly abused. She was used for the “sport of tripping”, where the whole purpose is to rope their legs and cause them to crash to the ground. She was also used for other horrible “fun”. I have literally worked with/been around thousands of horses over the last 20 years, and she was by far the most traumatized.
She was the most terrified horse I have ever seen, and it was so beautiful to see her settle in. I posted about how exciting it was when she started coming closer. She was in perfect health, and ran and played and just “got to be a horse”. Wendy was happy.
Yesterday she came in and laid down where I would see her. She never does that. Wendy had one of the most prolific prolapses I have ever seen. It was the size of a watermelon, and I knew instantly she could not survive. She was in major pain and I called Doc immediately. I knew I should have just put her down, but I couldn’t. When I got closer she jumped up in a burst of adrenalin and ran back to the others.
The first day that Manny wasn’t here to help, and I needed to round up all the wilds and bring them in. The only folks I trust that actually know how to do it right were either in Idaho or gone for the day. There were 9 wild horses on about 15 open acres, and 2 of them are blind. So I needed someone that actually had the skill and knowledge to get them safely gathered without stressing Wendy out even more and not getting the blind ones injured.
Doc showed up, and I could breathe. He and I have worked together for 10 years with the wilds and knowing I can trust him to “git ‘er done” the right and safe way was huge. We rounded them up, sorted the others out and he was able to end her suffering. On the outside, she looked perfect. She had been eating, drinking and acting normal. There was fresh manure. Whatever happened had been festering inside, and then came out in a horrible rush. However, what ever ruptured was badly infected and it appears it could have been colon cancer???? At this point all that matters is she is no longer suffering, although once again my heart is broken.
Our vet bill is now sitting at $2300 with Grandma Gracie’s meds, and Doc never said anything, just dropped everything to come out and end her pain.
I need to get this paid asap, as we have an appointment on Monday to geld Dakota. I am just grateful that Doc is so amazing and always puts the good of the animals before anything else.
I also need funds to get her buried today. She was covered last night, and her friends stood by and said their goodbyes. It is always hard to know they are out there, but it helped a little bit to see her band surrounding her and getting to come to terms with the loss.
Rescue is hard and sometimes it is just too much. Having to do a fundraiser at a time like this is really hard. The trailer now needs new wiring as only one brake works and the other does randomly, and that is after spending almost $700 to get the bearings and brakes done. The truck goes in on Monday and it is leaking oil.
I am sorry if this is a bit discombobulated. It is a really hard day and I just feel broken.
Please help and share far and wide.

Chilly Pepper – WE MISS YOU!! Benny update. What your donations do!
The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Quick Update.
We have had some wonderful donations, and were able to get both kinds of hay, and no I did not load the flatbed lol. I did make sure it had every tie down possible on it and tied the bales together as well. My arm is in a brace so I couldn’t load it. We were also able to purchase over $800 worth of grain. That is saving Grandma Gracie’s life right now.
Grandma Gracie needs her teeth done, but if we sedated her she would not survive at this time. So she needs the grain/mash. She is improving every day, thanks to your donations and love and support.
You can clearly see what your donations are accomplishing. Thank you!!! Yesterday we had a trailer emergency. The wheel locked up and would not turn. That is another unexpected $700+/- expense. Doc has still not been paid and we need to pay the $1500 (Gracie’s meds did come in), and get Dakota gelded asap.
The truck is heading to the shop Monday, and hopefully that won’t be more than the quoted $800, so we need to get that covered. I had to say yes to the bigger load of hay. They deliver for free and I needed to “fill the trailer” to make it worth their while. Having free delivery saves us a fortune, and I am so very grateful they will work with us.
Thank you so much for making this possible. I thought y’all would enjoy seeing how much Benny has improved because of your love, support and donations. You can literally see where your money is going. For a 25+ year old horse, he is doing amazing considering the shape he arrived in. Your donations make that happen. Please help us with the vet bill if you can. Thank you!!
Please help and share far and wide.
Thank you as always for being there for Chilly Pepper and all the critters you helped save!

A broken system is failing America’s wild horses
The following is from the American Wild Horse Conservation:
Members of Congress have until March 16 to sign onto a letter supporting humane wild horse reforms in the FY27 Interior Appropriations bill.
Your representative needs to hear from you today.
TAKE ACTION
The wild horse program is stuck in a broken cycle.
Every year, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rounds up thousands of wild horses and burros from public lands — only to warehouse them in government holding facilities that are already overcrowded and too expensive to maintain.
Instead of investing in humane solutions that keep horses on the range, the agency continues to rely on removals. The numbers tell the story:
In Fiscal Year 2025, the BLM removed 7,853 wild horses and burros from the range, while administering just 921 fertility control treatments — a science-backed tool that safely manages populations where wild horses belong.
Despite direction from lawmakers and the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board to expand fertility control, the agency has failed to scale up these humane solutions.
Without change, wild horses and burros will continue to be funneled into a broken system of roundups and long-term holding that already consumes the vast majority of the program’s budget.
Now, Congress has an opportunity to step in.
A letter is currently circulating in the U.S. House of Representatives calling for humane wild horse and burro protections to be included in the Fiscal Year 2027 Interior Appropriations bill.
But the window to secure support is short. Members of Congress only have until March 16 to sign onto this letter.
That means your representative needs to hear from constituents like you, Meredith, right now.
TAKE ACTION
If enough representatives sign on before the March 16 deadline, it could help steer federal policy toward humane, common-sense management that keeps wild horses where they belong — on the range. Your voice could help make that happen.
Thank you for standing with America’s wild horses and burros,
American Wild Horse Conservation
