SURVEY REQUEST: Help us set our priorities for wild horses and burros in 2023
The following is from the American Wild Horse Campaign:
It’s hard to believe we’re already in December!
As 2022 comes to a close, we want to reflect on the major wins we were able to accomplish together this year for our cherished wild horses and burros. Wins like securing language in the final Fiscal Year 2022 spending bill that reallocated $11 million in BLM funding away from helicopter roundups and towards humane fertility control or launching a nationwide public awareness campaign that brought thousands of new supporters to the AWHC herd.
These historic wins are worth celebrating, but until our beloved wild herds can live out their days wild and free, there is still much to be done. So, our team is already busy setting our priorities for 2023 – and, Meredith, as one of our most dedicated AWHC supporters, we want to hear from you!
This year’s successes were made possible because of supporters like you, Meredith. And we know we can build on these wins in the year ahead — but only if we work together.
So, Meredith, we want to know: What issue area are you most excited to see us take on in the upcoming year? Take our 2023 priorities survey and let us know! →
Thanks,
AWHC Team
Deadline Extended to Take Survey for Economic Impact Study
The following is from the American Horse Council:
The American Horse Council Foundation (AHCF) has announced that it will be extending the deadline to take the survey to update the National Economic Impact Study to September 4th.
AHCF and Study sponsors felt the deadline should be extended due to a last-minute surge in responses to give everyone ample opportunity to complete the survey, allow for the ‘back to school’ audience, and responses in progress. The AHC continues to encourage people to share the survey link on available platforms such as email, social media, blogs, websites, etc. For those interested in sharing the survey, please use the following link: https://innovationgroup.
This study documents the economic effects of racing, showing, recreation, rodeo and other segments of the horse industry on the state and national economy. It provides invaluable data on the number of horses, jobs, and related industries that are impacted by horse ownership, and it shows the diverseness of the industry we all love. The economic data that we collect from this study will help us chart a course for the future, and give the general public and members of Congress the most accurate portrait of the economic impact the diverse equine industry has.
As a reminder, all data is completely confidential, and will not be shared. As such, the AHC encourages survey respondents to share as much economic data as they can in order to ensure the most accurate economic impact portrait of the diverse equine industry. The AHC particularly encourages everyone to provide information on your horse-related expenses since they will form the primary basis of the economic impact.
If you have any questions, please contact the AHC. We appreciate your participation in the update of this incrediby important study!
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Survey
The following is from the American Horse Council:
Horses in all segments of the equine industry are regularly transported both intrastate and interstate for a variety of purposes, both by individuals and businesses. The ability to move horses easily for competition, breeding, sale, and recreation is of vital importance to the economic health of the industry.
In order to ensure the American Horse Council has a better understanding of how enforcement of federal motor carrier safety regulations are impacting the industry, we request all members of the horse industry take the following short survey. The survey is anonymous and the results will be used solely for informational purposes.
If you are an equine organization we ask that you please distribute this survey to your membership.
The survey will remain open until May 20th. If you have any questions, please contact the AHC.
