These precious little stallions need your help asap!! It is that time of year when folks start to “downsize”, as winter quickly approaches, and we know all know what happens to the unwanted.

These 2 teeny tinies need a safe place to land, and we are it. Both are pretty much unhandled and are little stud colts.

Please help us get them today!! We will have to pay bail, vetting, for health certs and transportation to get them home. Let’s make their holiday season happy and full of love.

The last rescue was successful, although we barely squeaked by.

Thankfully someone stepped up for the large pony and the Arabian. We were able to bail out the older TB mare, as well as help save 2 stallions. Thank you everyone who stepped up. We realize it is the beginning of the holiday seasons, and we so appreciate everyone who still is stepping up and saving lives. God bless you!!

It is go time once again. First I want to say Thank You, for saving so many precious lives. Sadly, the emergencies keep coming and we have a very short deadline to save these horses.

I NEED TO COMMIT BY FRIDAY MORNING TO KEEP THEM OFF THE TRUCK!, But it is up to y’all if you want me to say yes!

I received an urgent call this morning. We have three, possibly 4 who are scheduled to ship Friday, -(The Stallion call was a separate one, but we need to try and save him too.)

We have an old Arabian mare. She is said to be as sweet as sweet can be. Her hooves need a bit of help, but she deserves no less than to live out her life in peace, surrounded only by love.

We have another old and pregnant TB mare. She definitely needs some TLC, and being pregnant, she desperately needs the proper groceries.

There is another pony who may have an adopter. We are praying that is the case.

The Stallion mentioned above is approximately 4 years old, and you are his only chance. The great news with him is that he has a wonderful home offer if we can save him.

All these kids will need to be bailed, vet checked, transported and cared for as always. We cannot save them without the funding needed to cover the costs and to provide feed and care.

Back at the rescue we have stallions to geld, lots of vet bills and a large need for milk powder. Our little Jack donk needs serious hoof care and he needs to get gelded before the weather is too bad. Castle, our yearling stallion also needs to be gelded immediately.

CONWAY, one we were able to help

Conway came to AAE with six of his other equine friends after the passing of his elderly owner.  Due to his owner’s health conditions and physical limitations, this herd had not received adequate care for quite some time.  The County animal care agency had been involved for quite some time.  Though we offered assistance over a year ago; owner declined, looking only for financial support.
Conway had foundered; he had not received hoof or dental care for quite a while.
His hooves were painful, and he was very depressed.

Conway was a bit nervous, lacking confidence and appreciation for humans.  He was not readily halterable without patience and try.
Conway was evasive, sensitive, and really wanted to be alone.  He was not a fan of hoof handling, either, understandably so.
Shortly after arrival, radiographs were taken of Conway’s hooves, and he got much needed hoof and dental care.

  

Conway needed sedation for hoof care initially.  After two- to four-week trim cycles, continued hoof care and much love and attention, this lil’ guy has come around.  He’s beginning to seek attention, and he stands quietly for the farrier.  Conway has some sensitivity with the farrier when rasping his dorsal wall, likely due to residual sensitivity, but he seems to improve with each trim cycle.  Conway is living in a small mini horse/donkey herd environment, and his personality is slowly surfacing.

Help Us With Our New Fencing!

We need help finishing our fencing project at the new property.
Are you available Saturday, November 15, 2019?
If we can get the south portion of the fencing done,
we can move some horses onto the new property and
rotate them in the big pasture area
before the new grass grows.

We really need to get this done, soon.
  
We had to reschedule, but we’ll have the help of our favorite Micah Smith and Tailored Tree!
We’ll be digging post holes with the help of Micah’s Bobcat!
Dick and Wendy will be out, and we need the help of at least four to six more people
assist with the process including setting the posts in concrete (lifting bags of concrete).
November 15, 2019 – 9a to noon-ish (or until we get done)
Additional days for tackling more t-posts and installing wire will follow.
We are nearly done with the south end of the property!
We have two power drivers for the t-posts.
 
Once we can get the t-posts done in the remaining areas, and the posts set, we can start hanging wire.
How exciting it will be to get this done!!!  We are close!

New Volunteer Needs

As many of you know, we’ve been trying to expand store hours.
TACK STORE SUPPORT:
We need a second person to help staff the store on Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday afternoons, 2p-6p.
If you’re interested in helping with tack store activities (e.g. cleaning donated tack, researching/pricing, organizing),
we need you.  Current store hours are Fri-Mon 12-4p, and we could use help during any of those hours, too.
Please contact wendy@allaboutequine.org if you are interested/available Tues, Wed, or Thurs afternoons, 2p-6p.
  

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:

If you are available to help with administrative activities, we are creating admin hours in the office at the store.

BOOTS & BLING 2020

We have kicked off our Boots & Bling planning for 2020.
The event has included a catered BBQ Dinner, DJ Music, Live/Silent/Dessert auctions,
a special fundraiser, and line dancing with instruction.
We need help in most areas for planning for this event to make sure its a huge success for AAE and our horses.

We meet once a month until the event.
    

SPECIAL PROJECTS AROUND THE BARN

Maybe you’d like to help around the barn, but don’t want to work directly with the horses, or you don’t like to muck?
We could use some help cleaning and organizing, whether it’s the feed room, the meds room, the office, the tools, groundskeeping, painting shelters, monitoring the fencelines, tree trimming, coordinating vehicle maintenance, or a zillion other things.
There’s so much that needs to be done, and
we could use some extra hands to help keep things looking nicer and more clean.

HEADING BACK TO WA – MORE BABIES AT THE FEED LOT – CHILLY PEPPER NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!

ANOTHER MIRACLE BABY – MEET LITTLE MAX, AND HIS MAMA WHO REJECTED HIM.

They just keep coming. All the horses in the last batch have been saved. Luckily another rescue stepped up and helped fund raise and there is only one left at this time. We are slated to bring him home if he does not get adopted in the next few hours. Sadly, between his fees and Coggins etc., we will need another $750 just to save him, and that does not include the additional babies..

It cost $6027 ($1400 to save the horses and the rest for Coggins and Health Certs and to get the emergency vet care for our gentle giant and the tiny Max. Big Matt had a bad case of colic, and Little Matt was on his way to a certain death. In addition, one of the horses I am bringing home on this next trip needed emergency vet care yesterday for an infected hoof. So that pretty much wiped out the coffers. We try to do as much of the vetting as we can, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and save the lives God puts in front of you. So we need more help now! I have to get to WA, so we can save the 4 babies waiting at the feed lot. Then those horses have to get vetted and we have to get back home.

THE MIRACLE OF MAX-AMILLION

I received the call for MAX, hours after he was born. His Mama absolutely refused to have anything to do with him and shoved him into a water tank. So this newborn (probably a preemie) ended up with no care, a Mama bent on hurting him, and wet and frozen cold out in the freezing winds. It was a horrific way for a tiny baby to begin life.

I was told that he was given colostrum. He couldn’t really swallow, and had no suckling reflex whatsoever. It took forever to get even tiny amounts of milk down him. The next morning we had the vet check him. Everything seemed fine.

That afternoon little Max was unconscious.. We gave him glucose and Mel worked on waking him up. When he came back to, he sat up and drank his milk like nothing had happened. I was pretty sure we had turned a corner, but that little voice said take him to WSU – the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. It was 4 hours away and I was exhausted and dreading the drive, but I knew God was telling us to go. THANKFULLY WE DID! Max-amillion had zero Passive Transfer, which means he had no colostrum. Not enough to even register. He has pneumonia, fluid around his lungs from the pneumonia, and he would have died for sure.

Between the vet bills for Big Matt and Little Max-amillion, and the funds spent purchasing the rescued horses, we simply need to recharge our funds. We need to get the rest of the kids and bring them home. I was told several are still needing milk, although I have yet to see them,

ANOTHER 911 – A NEW RESCUE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ONE! SO FAR 8 & MAYBE MORE??? CLOCK IS TICKING AS ALWAYS.

ANOTHER 911 CALL! They just do not stop in our world.

2 More wild babies at the shipper’s so far, (and most likely more to come!) Folks have seen multiple “traps” that are currently full of wild horses, right now, today!

We received an urgent call for a group of kids that are shipping in a few days? 6 Domestics, 3 more older, “gentle giants”, who were purportedly driving horses, and 3 older saddle horses. All of these horses worked their lives away, and now that they are no longer needed, they have been thrown in the trash.

Let’s show them that timing aside, no matter what time of year, their lives DO matter! Rescue is never convenient, and this is the worst time of year to be taking on more horses. However, their lives ALWAYS matter, even if it is freezing outside and it takes tremendous amounts of work to care for them.

We will save as many as we can get funding for. But this means being responsible and knowing we have enough money to not only “buy them”, but to vet them, transport them and feed and care for them properly through the winter months, or until we can get them adopted.

So it will be up to y’all, as always. YOU decide how many more we can save. Y’all are amazing, but we simply cannot do this without you. We are exhausted, but we had to put it out there and give these guys a chance.

Big Matt was colicking the 2nd night we got him. He is a hot mess, and needs lots of prayers. His heart rate was double what it should have been and the vet was very concerned. Sadly, he is a very long way from being “out of the woods’. We are hoping and praying his new drug protocol will provide comfort and not too many side effects.

We have already spent a fortune on him, but he needs as much help as we can give him. At this time, he cannot seem to lie down. A horse HAS to be able to lie down, or it will be a death sentence. He is exhausted and when he tried to lay down, he got half way down, and it was too hard for him. He started moaning, and then finally stood back up. Vet has him starting on some good meds, so we will see if we can make him comfortable and give him a good quality of life.

Can you imagine weighing 1900 pounds, your feet and legs hurting, and not being able to lie down to rest and get off of them? We HAVE TO MAKE SURE his quality of life is one that he deserves! Horses also need to sleep. :(

We will be heading home with this current group of kids tomorrow. How many we will be able to pick up when we come back depends on you. Please help us save and take care of as many as possible.

We are also praying other folks will step up and help these horses, but for now, all we can do is try and save as many as we can.

Help Us With Our New Fencing!

We need help finishing our fencing project at the new property.
If we can get the south portion of the fencing done,
we can move some horses onto the new property and
rotate them in the big pasture area
before the new grass grows.

As many of you know, we’ve been trying to expand store hours.
TACK STORE SUPPORT:
We need a second person to help staff the store on Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday afternoons, 2p-6p.
If you’re interested in helping with tack store activities (e.g. cleaning donated tack, researching/pricing, organizing),
we need you.  Current store hours are Fri-Mon 12-4p, and we could use help during any of those hours, too.

We have kicked off our Boots & Bling planning for 2020.
The event has included a catered BBQ Dinner, DJ Music, Live/Silent/Dessert auctions,
a special fundraiser, and line dancing with instruction.
We need help in most areas for planning for this event to make sure its a huge success for AAE and our horses.

Maybe you’d like to help around the barn, but don’t want to work directly with the horses, or you don’t like to muck?

WILL YOU SAVE MY LIFE??? (And my friends?)

The baby shown above is going to ship if we do not step up! As of tonight, there are 9 lives at stake,

Rescue is overwhelming, the constant need for fundraisers, the calls you cannot say yes to, the constant cries for help. Yet once again, we are stuck.

We simply do not have enough funds to save all these kids.

We have to be responsible to the horses already at the rescue, and we cannot take on more if we cannot properly care for them.

That being said, I believe there are enough folks who care about these precious souls who will step up and help us save them. We have committed to paying for 5, but have not covered the costs yet. Again, we are going on faith, even committing to those 5.

It takes an average of approximately $350 per horse, to purchase, get them vetted and have their blood drawn, (so they can be transported) and get them home. That is just to “save them”, and that is just the beginning.. That does not include basic feed or any additional vet care etc.

We HAVE to have additional funds for feed & care (hay, grain, vaccines etc.), or we cannot commit to saving them all.

Matt and I are willing to do the work, but the horses need your help now! You have saved so many lives, please let’s keep on “Gitten ‘Er done”’ and save ALL 9 of these lives.

The donkeys are in extremely poor shape health wise. The stud is extremely aggressive, and has not only plowed over one of our favorite people and sent him flying, he BITES! Their hooves are in horrible shape, and they will need lots of extra care and vetting.

I am out of town, and was actually trying to take a couple “rescue free” days to have time to say good bye to a much loved friend. But this was a call I couldn’t ignore. (I know she would be unhappy if I let these innocent babies die, just because my heart is filled with sadness by her passing).

So in her honor I am continuing the fight, and asking y’all for another miracle. Let’s save these lives. PLEASE donate now!!!

911 CALL – ANOTHER DEADLINE – SHIPPER CALLED – 3 +? FOR US, CLOCK IS TICKING – THEY NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

Another 911 call today. Shipper in WA has at least 3 for us. I need to let him know asap if we can take them. TWO of them are easily big enough to ship, but we were offered the chance to save them. However, as always, there is a looming deadline.

We are so grateful to y’all for helping us save the 71 babies in August and September, but these lives are just as important. We have been absolutely swamped caring for the nearly 90 horses we had at Chilly Pepper, but thankfully, our angels stepped up to help us find placement for many of the babies. We are now close to 30 horses, but that is still a very large number going into winter. We need to stock up on groceries and meds.

With temperatures sinking in to the low 20’s in the next week, we are fighting the cold weather, “water blues”. (Low 20’s means freezing water tanks, frozen hoses, broken water lines etc. So we need to buy new tank heaters and get ready for the cold immediately. It’s only September, ugh.)

We are working on more shelter so all these kids will be comfortable and warm. In the past, this much shelter was not needed, as our numbers were normally lower.

However, as we are sitting on close to 30 horses and the weather is already going to be brutal, we need to get the extra shelters set up. Especially as we are (hopefully) heading out to get more.

The (4 legged) kids are also eating us out of house and home. We need to order more hay, grain, milk pellets etc. and are now heading to WA, IF we can save these babies. This will mean more vetting etc. (It was over $500 for the last 5). As our coffers were nearly wiped out with the 71 needing so much special feed, milk pellets, vetting etc., we need to get back on track.

Please help us save these lives and prepare for the upcoming winter. We need your help and together, as always, we can “git ‘er done” and keep saving lives.

Thank you for helping us save all 71 babies. In the middle of all that, we rescued another Virginia Range yearling with a nail in her foot. Sadly, the only option was to end her excruciating pain.

ANOTHER EMERGENCY CALL YESTERDAY. We picked up this beautiful little girl last night. She is about as critical as they come. We also found out she has extreme issues with peripheral vision and appears to be completely blind behind her. She was terrified, shaking and lashing out, kicking viciously out of utter panic and terror, if anything accidentally touched her hind end or she herself touched something.

She is beyond sweet and NEEDS YOUR HELP! She stayed right outside the nursery door, surrounded by babies, babies, babies on either side. She ate and as I was awake all night, I heard her urinate twice. That is why you “sleep (or stay awake lol)” with your critical cases and your babies. I would have no way of knowing if she was passing any fluids if I couldn’t hear her.

She will need veterinary care, blood tests, medicine, special feed etc. and we still have close to 70 horses here. 19 went to their new homes yesterday. PTL!

So if you can help us give her a chance it would be much appreciated. Tatiana was named after Titan,our beautiful boy we rescued last year. He came in to us in about the same shape, but the damage the starvation did to him was too severe. He had a year of love and happiness, but yesterday he was done.

Please help us save her and honor his memory. She truly needs a miracle, and if we can save her, she most likely will end up a permanent rescue in our blind pen with the other kids.

WOW – ANOTHER 911 CALL – 26 MORE babies today. I should have stayed home lol. I am in WA State as we got called for 5 babies last week. Received another phone call this morning and now we have another 26 babies to save. THESE BABIES NEED FOLKS TO HELP ASAP!

Between NV and WA, we have now pulled in 71 babies and yearlings in the last 2 weeks. Talk about running on faith. The wonderful donations we received have pretty much been spent rescuing these kids, feeding them, and on some initial veterinary care. God has always provided us with such amazing Angels (YOU) who donate so we can keep saving these PRECIOUS LIVES.

However, this one is especially based on faith, as we need so much help to be able to save these kids. Again, everything is a deadline, and we need to be able to commit to and pick up these babies tonight.

PLEASE HELP US SAVE THESE ADDITIONAL 26 BABIES!

AS ALWAYS, THIS IS A 911, as we are the only chance these babies have to start their new lives. So once again, our CHILLY PEPPER FAMILY is on the FRONT LINES! Let’s do what we always do and “git ‘er done”!

New horses and the story of an intake:  Sawyer and Jasper

Sawyer and Jasper recently came to AAE when their owner fell on very hard times.  They are super sweet, pony-sized kids coming three this Fall.

Sawyer

Sawyer’s was born November 2016, and her dad was a Spanish QH and mom QH/Shetland.  At intake, Sawyer weighed in at about 825 pounds and measured about 13.1 hh.  Sawyer is a fancy lil’ gal that came in with a bit of a spoiled/pushy ‘tude.
Sawyer is learning her manners, as hard as it may be because she really loves her human friends.  Sawyer is easy to bring in from pasture, and she’s lower gal on the totem pole in the herd.  She is enjoys grooming and lots of attention.  She has been trimmed once and is learning to stand patiently and give her hooves freely.  Sawyer is improving her ground skills, working in the round pen and will soon be learning to ground drive with a surcingle.
She’s taking it all in stride.  This little character will make a fun project for an experienced person.  Sawyer is available for adoption and will be ready to go to her new home after her dental appointment next week.  She is current with vaccines, deworming, and hoof care.  She has a microchip in place, and her DNA results are in ( 1st Galiceno, 2nd Quarter Horse, 3rd Belgian Draft).

Jasper

Jasper was born October 2016, and his dad was a Spanish QH and mom a registered Paint.  At intake, he weighed in at only 700 pounds and measured 14.0 hh.  Jasper is a laid back kinda guy that came in a little bit shy.  He was thin, and his hooves were long and flared.  He had not been gelded, so we made immediate plans to take resolve that “issue”.
Jasper was warming up quickly with only a minor setback when his personal space was invaded, and we learned he was hiding both of his gems.  Wait, it wasn’t Jasper that had the setback, it was AAE when we learned he was a bilateral cryptorchid.  Neither of his testicles had descended.  To be sure he actually had testicles and wasn’t magically gelded by some equine angel in the night, we confirmed with a blood test.  “He does have testicles”, just what we really didn’t want to hear.  Needless to say, Jasper made his way to Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center for brain surgery, I mean castration.  Thankfully, surgery went well, and Jasper recovered nicely.
Jasper has come around to enjoy humans with little concern.  He still needs to build a bit of confidence, but all in all, he’s a sweetheart of a guy.  He’s learning his manners, and he’s learning patience, relatively well.  Jasper, the lil stud colt that he was, had some inherently strong, manly beliefs.  He’s slowly losing his enthusiasm around other horses, and he’s learning to be more respectful in the presence of others.  He has not made a transition to pasture yet, because he still has some belief that he’s “the man”, a stud, and he really likes the girls.  When recently introduced to pasture, he thought he’d show Blue up a bit.  Oops, not how we thought that introduction would go.  For now, he’ll spend more time appreciating the herd and pasture from the other side of the fence.  In the meantime, Jasper is enjoying grooming and attention.  He has been trimmed twice and is still learning to stand patiently and give his hooves freely; however, there was big improvement with the second trim.
Now that Jasper has recovered from surgery, he has been improving his ground skills, working in the round pen, and he will soon be learning to ground drive with a surcingle and wear a saddle.  He has some growing to do.  He’s filling out nicely, but seems delayed a bit due to malnourishment early on.  Like Sawyer, he’s taken it all in stride.  Jasper will also make a fun project for an experienced person.  Jasper is available for adoption and will be ready to go to his new home after his dental appointment next week.  He is current with vaccines, deworming, and hoof care.  He has a microchip in place, and his DNA results are in ( 1st Quarter Horse, 2nd Turkoman, 3rd Holsteiner).

THE ROUNDUP BEGINS – SIXTY PLUS BABIES EXPECTED???? WILL YOU SAVE THEM? A CHANCE TO GET THEM BEFORE THE KILL BUYER.

THEY JUST KEEP COMING! Got ANOTHER CALL!!!!l for UP TO SIXTY (60) – YES, 60 or more, ORPHAN BABIES. The roundup in NV has already started, sorting has begun and we are on call for this afternoon!!.

We have been given the chance to purchase these orphans BEFORE the kill buyer gets their hands on them. Praising the Lord for that one. Although no one likes the roundups, this makes saving the ones we can so much easier.

We are also on call for any other “special needs” kids that might come in!, whether it be injuries, starving etc. We will be there for the ones that need us!

This will save about $300 per baby just to rescue them. By being offered this “pre-purchase” opportunity, we will save about EIGHTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($18,000) IF we can raise enough funds and are able to rescue the 60 we were told about.

We are estimating to purchase the babies, get Coggins, health Certs etc. and to provide the milk and feed they will need to get buy for a couple months, we should plan on about $500 per baby. That will give us a couple? month’s worth of feed. Most of these babies are not weaned, and will need their milk replacer!

It is definitely going to take awhile to find homes for that many babies. There could be more! Everyone is always saying that rescues should get them before they get to the kill buyer. Well, here is our chance. I believe they only have to be about 400 pounds to ship, so we need to save as many as possible.

We are shooting for $30,000 so we can save up to 60 babies and actually be able to start providing care for them until we find them homes That is just the start, as there will most likely be at least a few who need vetting.

Once again I was given a deadline to commit, and as always, I went on pure Faith. Y’all have saved so many lives and I know that no one wants these babies to die.

It is time for EVERYONE to come together.

We still have babies at the Shipper’s in WA, and the 4 (3 stallions) in Idaho that I wrote about yesterday. We are hoping other rescues will take on even a few of the babies. We need to work together!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Help us get this done. We have had miracle after miracle because YOU GUYS SAVED THE DAY! Let’ keep it going and save these lives.

Another 911, Received an emergency call for the horses shown above, a couple hours ago. We have until Friday to save them. There are two stallions and a yearling who all need to be gelded. Stallions have so much less of a chance to find homes, but we can “git ‘er done”, with Your help!(Sometimes it is a bummer being the ones who can “do stallions”, but these lives matter!)

All four need saved, and we need your help to have their Coggins drawn, get their Health Certs etc. and be able to transport them to safety.

As usual, we need immediate help to save these beautiful souls. The good news is that we can save them, and the great news is that 3 of them already have a safe place to land, once we rescue and vet them. The gelding needs some serious hoof care, and then we can work on placing him also.

But the timing is critical and it is urgent as there is no leniency on the deadline.

Great news!! He is on his new Mama. They are with our friends Bev Boshart and her group, and Mama and Baby are loving each other. Mama needs some serious groceries as well, and both are getting everything they need and the best care possible. We so appreciate Bev taking on this little one. This is the 2nd Mama and baby this year, that they have matched up with a little magic from the vet.

Another reason to celebrate. Remember poor Obsidian? Well, here he is today. He now has his permanent home, and he is thriving there. He still has serious emotional issues, but is improving every day. He is comfortable where he is living and starting to interact a bit more on his own. Physically he is thriving. Every day this beautiful boy is healing and enjoying his life, and it is all “THANKS TO YOU”!

Another emergency for an emaciated foal. I received another 911 call today. One of the babies at the shipper’s is in dire shape. His Mama passed away, and he needs our help now!!!

Please help us Save Sinbad. He needs urgent and lifesaving care immediately.He will be at Mama Mel’s Urgent Care Nursery for now. I have a call in to one of our folks in WA who has had success in the past, hooking up Mama’s and orphan foals, and we have high hopes that he may be one of the lucky ones. This will be done under veterinary care, and he will have 24/7 care.

But for now we need to save him and we need to stock up on all of our supplies for the rest of the babies who are still at the Shipper’s. We know there are already more coming, and as usual, we need your help now! We are short on all our baby supplies and we still have 8 babies at this time,

Thank you for helping horses!
It’s been incredibly busy the last few months.
We wrapped up our Boots and Bling event, and we’re so grateful to everyone that volunteered, donated, purchased tickets, attended, bid on auction items, and supported the event in every way.  Thanks to  your support, we sold out (over 400 tickets), and with immense gratitude for the folks at the Western States Horse Expo, we had a fun-filled event at the fabulous Murieta Equestrian Center.  With your support, we raised approximately $55,000 to support AAE operations and assure ongoing rescue activities!
Though our Boots event is a big boost to our budget, the calls for help with horses never ends, and sadly, neither does the need for fundraising.
For those of you that were unable to attend Boots (and those that attended, too), we had some auction items that were not bid on, and we thought it would be fun to have a second chance auction, online….a second chance for items to be won, a second chance for you to win, and another chance for you to keep helping horses!  We’ve added some cool new items, too.
We have a series of auctions lined up, so visit often and share broadly!
All About Equine’s Second Chance Auction is live on our Facebook page.  Like our horses, these items are in need of a new home and a second chance!
We hope to will find something you can’t live without, so help the horses by bidding!  All the proceeds from the online auction go directly to care for horses and ongoing operations at AAE!

ANOTHER URGENT CALL – SUFFERING ENDED, AND 4 MORE BABIES AT THE SHIPPER’S

Another call for 4 more babies, and maybe more. At least this one is not a 24 hour deadline. Pickup could be in a day, or a week, or even longer. Luckily the Shipper does not have a full load right now. So every day is a gift for these poor babies. Sadly, we have no option to save the moms. But we need to raise funds to secure the safety and rescue of these little babies.

We deal with so much heartbreak it is beyond comprehension. It drains you to the point of almost not being able to function. I know this is God’s rescue and He puts this all in front of us. So I am supposed to be able to handle it :( We run on so much faith, and He does always provide, even when we are down to pennies, but it takes every last thing.

THANK YOU so very much for making the last rescue possible. The mare’s leg was horribly broken. When she stepped out of the trailer she fell down, so she was humanely euthanized within hours. It of course was extra spendy, but it had to be done. THANK YOU for giving her the respect she deserved, and the gift of an end to her pain. The other gelding is now in his forever home. He may or may not have a long life, but his teeth were fixed so his horrible pain has also ended. The vet said the cancer is not painful, so he will live out his days in peace, surrounded by love. The orphans were also picked up and are home safe.

We were called on a beautiful little filly from Nevada, named Tyla. She had been caught in the middle of a stallion fight and had been laying there for hours. Everyone came together and we picked her up.

She was in horrible shape, and we took her to the vet on our way home. I also consulted our vet in CA. She is a foal specialist and is one of the best vets out there. Both of my “excellent” vets had exactly the same treatment plan. However, even with proper meds, the damage to her spine was too much and she let us know she was done. Her pain was getting worse and worse and her spinal injury was not improving.

Sadly, we had to set her free from her pain and this world. The only good thing was that for once, EVERY person in her life DID THE RIGHT THING FOR HER. If caring folks had not taken the time to make sure she was rescued, she would have literally been eaten alive on the range, as she was paralyzed when she was lying down. (She could literally only move her head and neck.) Another heartbreak for us, but a beautiful gift for an amazingly beautiful little baby. She couldn’t stay lying down, even when we helped her down. Her pain was too much.

She would stand beside my bed for literally hours, with her nose mushed into my tummy and sleep. We spent nearly 24/7 with her, but even with the best care, she never had a chance. When a baby wants to fight, and there is even the slightest chance of getting better, we will always fight with them. But that moment they tell you they are done, we have to honor and respect that, no matter how painful it is for us. That is true rescue. Always doing what is best for the critter in front of you.

So we have lots of vet bills again, and our milk and rescue funds have been depleted. We are getting ready for the new kids, and praying there will only be 4. However we all know that can change in a minute. So once again, we need your help now!

Y’all are amazing, and YOU HAVE SAVED SO MANY LIVES! Thank you for always being there for the horses.

Thank you as always, for your amazing love and support. We treasure all our Chilly Pepper Family and appreciate the fact that YOU MAKE THIS ALL POSSIBLE! We will keep on fighting as long as we have the funds to make it happen, even though on days like today it is simply too much. :(
