Chilly Pepper – QUICK Truck Stuff

Hi,

This is the truck that is down and needs urgent help. I have personally pulled over 100,000 loaded miles for the rescue. We currently are running a trailer that is 4 feet shorter, but still heavy, especially when loaded. The other trailer is a heavy duty, 3 box stock trailer and that is also extremely heavy when loaded. This truck has hauled hundreds and hundreds of horses, starved, wild, injured and sick.

I thought some of you might like to see how hard she works and why it is so important that I keep her in perfect condition, safe and running efficiently. The repairs ensure that I can safely stop and pull up and down the hills.

When I started this rescue, I owned 2 homes that were paid off, a Custom Harley, a jet boat, a corvette, a custom truck, and financially I was pretty set. Now I live in a singlewide that leaves much to be desired, have no more toys and have given everything I can to save these horses. I simply have nothing left. However, it was worth it, and we have saved so many horses that are happy and living great lives. Together, our Chilly Pepper Family has made a difference in literally hundreds and hundreds of lives over the last 20 years.

Good news, we don’t need $9000.. Bad news – the new estimate today is $5000+

So far we have raised $604 towards the needed $5000 to fix the truck. So now we need $4396 for the repairs. Thank you to anyone who has already helped, and to anyone who will be helping. The truck is essential. Thank you!

Chilly Pepper – When it Rains it Pours…. Please help if you can.

Hi,

The new kids are settling in well. I am so surprised that they have such thick coats when they are so starved. Yes, we have had much worse, but considering there were 4 total that had passed from starvation on the property, I seriously needed to say yes.

I do have a very urgent plea for help. The truck is in the shop, cannot be driven until it is fixed, and the estimate ranged from $2500 to as high as $9,000 worst case scenario – IF the turbo and assembly needed replaced. I will know more in the next few days, but Chilly Pepper need this truck running. It for is used for hauling, feeding, and anything and everything the rescue needs. The horses and donkeys rely on everything this truck respresents. We cannot move without it.

We are now down to 2 bales left of Alfalfa. Bales are around $100 or more, and are between 1000-2000 pounds. These kids are hungry, and with the other starvation cases we recently picked up, the Alfalfa is disappearing at an amazing rate. Another load should be around $1400.

I will post more photos as soon as I have a chance. THANK YOU! as always. The truck is always maintained properly and religiously, but with the miles it runs for the rescue, there will be times when it needs extra maintenance and repairs.

Chilly Pepper – A Saturday Surprise – 3 starved horses need your help!

Wow – It has been a day.

I received a phone call and was literally brought to tears. A donation that covered the last of the hay costs for the load we just got, and the left over to go towards saving Tarzan. Together y’all did it. Thank you so much.

The 2nd call – A 911 for 3 starving horses. Sadly others had not survived, and I was told it was “GO TIME”! The situation was considered to be an emergency and an hour later we were on the road. No time to fundraise, just say a prayer and run on faith.

This rescue always has run on Faith, and God has sent me so many angels. We sure need you now. When the balance of the hay was paid, there was several hundred dollars to start covering the costs for Tarzan. We still need to cover hauling, his vetting, both in WA and in NV, and getting his hooves done.

Now we have 3 unexpected lives to care for. They are so sweet, and so very thin under their winter coats. It is impossible to see how thin they really are, but it is bad. Sadly others at the same place did not survive.

We need help to get these kids healthy and ready for winter. We also need to pay the vet bills in WA and NV, and to also cover the upcoming ones.

Thank you for being so amazing and always stepping up for the horses. I simply had no time to worry about raising funds for the “Saturday Surpise Kids”. We just had to make sure they got here quickly and safely. I so appreciate you guys helping them as well as Tarzan.

Chilly Pepper – It’s crunchtime for Tarzan. He needs help now if he is going to have a chance

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Urgent

We still need $1550 and that is just to cover the hay.

We need funds for transport, to get him vetted for travel, emergency vet care when I get him home and he needs help immediately.

The total needed to cover the hay and get him home and to start his care is $3500 Please let’s get him home and the help he needs. (That includes funds to get him his x-rays and initial vet care).

If you look at his eye pictures, the top one shows his distrust, fear and the betrayal he knows. I need his eyes to match the 2nd picture, where there was no fear or anger.

If you look at his legs, they are twisted and crooked. If his coffin bones are not destroyed it will be a miracle. My heart is broken. I need to help him.

I am praying this is not the end of an era. Without funds I cannot do the work. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated. It looks to be a very cold winter and we have alot of special needs. Maybe it is time to hang it up; hopefully not. However if I cannot provide the proper care and supply enough feed it will be time to close the rescue.
Will you PLEASE help us make sure Tarzan can come home and gets the help he needs??? He DID NOT deserve this, and my heart is crushed into a million pieces.

Chilly Pepper – TARZAN 911 – We need to bring him home now!!!!

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

TARZAN NEEDS TO COME HOME ASAP! The condition of his hooves could lead to his coffin bones being damaged beyond repair. This would result in his death.

I still need for $ 2475 to finish paying for the hay. How can I possibly justify bringing another horse to the rescue if we can’t cover the hay?

How can I even think about leaving TARZAN in this situation? He is our baby, and we need to get him home.

We need funds for transport, vetting and when he does finally get home, he will need more vet care so we can fix his hoofers.

I HAVE to pay for the hay asap and I NEED TO BRING TARZAN HOME.

This is a pretty intense situation, and I want to believe we can keep saving lives and doing the right thing for the horses we save. It’s up to you.

Will you PLEASE help get the hay covered so we can make sure Tarzan comes home and gets the help he needs??? He DID NOT deserve this, and my heart is crushed into a million pieces.

Chilly Pepper – Update – Hay delivered – Horses need more help to finish paying for hay!

Quick update.

Hay was delivered yesterday. Was not expecting quite this big of a load, but so grateful it is sitting in the yard ready to go.

We still need $2900 to cover the total $4200 worth of hay.

Audrey is still fighting a brutal infection. She is feeling better and all of the kids are gaining weight that needed it. They are going through unbelievable amounts of feed, and send out a huge Thank You for keeping them fed and warm.

I am blessed that my guy will trust us to come through. I promised him y’all would not let the horses down. With the colder weather it is so important to keep them well fed and toasty.

Chilly Pepper – Update – Urgent help needed – Taco needs your help now!

Will you help Taco? This beautiful little guy is just a baby and needs groceries asap, as well as supplements and special feed.

We are almost out of hay, and the truckload that had been “donated” is no longer available. I have a load coming tomorrow and it will be around $2500. I really need help to pay for it. I am a little embarrassed as I should know that you only count on what is actually in your hands. Not sure what happened, but I imagine life had alot to do with it. A heads up that we were no longer being gifted the hay would have been ideal, but I am truly grateful for the hay we actually got to feed. The horses loved it. However now I am in a pickle as we need to pay for the load coming tomorrow.

Sadly, Morengo and Apollo are back with us. In spite of their adopters paying a local gal who is said to be a “trainer/farrier” $900 per month PER horse, the horses were not even able to be halter trained. There was no progress made and the folks were unable to get the horses’ feet done. It is seriously hard to even find a farrier, let alone ones who do wild horses. Folks – if you need help, please ALWAYS reach out.

Doc came out twice to lay them down as it was an urgent situation and they needed their feet done asap. Both boys are so happy to be back home and it’s heartbreaking when folks actually put out the funds to get their kids trained and end up with a trainer who cannot actually do what they offer. It seemed like such a great situation as we did not realize the trainer was incapable of handling wild horses.

I believe our current vet bill is around $1000 and we have a cat emergency this week. One of the strays we are in the process of catching was stepped on by a horse. (Not the one in the photo.) I need to trap him/her as I believe we will need to have Doc amputate the bottom half of her tail as it is already infected.

Once again life is requesting lots of funds to keep things going. ALL the horses are doing well and Audrey and Trojan are gaining weight. I need to get them more alfalfa tomorrow, as they seem to eat non stop. Doc looked at Audrey’s leg and is afraid the infection is in her bone. Prayers appreciated for her healing. Miracle got to join his new “herd” today. He is loving not being isolated.

Wow,

Sadly, the horses were in much worse shape than I thought. Audrey needed emergency surgery today!!! and that is what happened this morning. I was concerned, as we were still around $2000 short even before the surgery. I had to go on pure Faith, and said YES to the surgery.

Several hours later, the phone rang. One of our donors had seen we were short the $2000+ for the rescue and said she WILL MATCH EVERY PENNY up to $1000. Any funds donated after (2:24) on Thursday afternoon will be matched up to $1000. Woohooo! Prayers answered.

So with her amazing matching funds, we can at least reach the funds needed to have responsibly taken on these horses. What a beautiful blessing for these horses y’all are!

Please help us get that match! Trojan also got to see Doc, so now we wait on his bloodwork.

Thank you everyone who has donated so far, and NOW, let’s get those matching funds. Audrey may need another surgery. Doc surgically removed the screw that was backing out and causing the infection, and hopefully she will not need another one. At this time, it is unknown. Miracle also needs eye removal surgery. Jax is healing well, although it will continue to take more time.

Audrey and Trojan still need your help. Which one do we save?

We are short a little over half the funds needed. We have raised $1936 towards the $5000 needed.

Thank you everyone who has stepped up so far. These lives are precious!

These funds include transport, vetting, coggins, special feed, meds, etc. so we can offer these kids the care they desperately need. Saving the horse is the easy part. It is pretty obvious we could be looking at some serious vet bills.

The hauler is scheduled for tomorrow. Will You help make this happen? Any amount will help. I am at a loss as to what else to do. I have to be able to provide the proper care for the animals we rescue.

Hi,

It’s crunch time. I said I would take these 2 critical care cases. However, we have raised approximately $350 towards the $5000 we are expecting to need when you consider hauling, vetting, special care and possibly surgery. We need more clay as well.

If we can’t raise enough to take care of these two kids and give them a chance at a decent life, then I cannot have them picked up. Y’all raised most of the money we needed for Miracle, and he is chilling at Chilly Pepper.

However, we need funds for these precious souls. THEY RODE THESE HORSES AT A KID’S CAMP IN THIS CONDITION. Animal control is involved, but they desperately need medical attention, which is why I was contacted to help. I have worked together with the rescue that is working directly with animal control, and I jumped and said “YES”, my Chilly Pepper Family will want to help them.

Audrey has a metal plate in her leg, (that is what I was told). It is full of pus and oozing and that can be potentially deadly.

TROJAN IS AT LEAST 30, and being starved so badly can also be deadly. He needs us now!

Please help us save them. I will promise you I cannot pick one and not both. We need enough funds to save both of them.

Hi,

Wow, you can’t even make this stuff up.

I received an urgent call for “Miracle”.

Miracle is described as a cryptorchid, one-eyed, unhandled 7-13 year old stallion who WILL BE SHOT IN THE HEAD by the previous owner this coming Saturday or Sunday if he is not picked up and off the property.

He looks like he could possibly need surgery on his eye, and that surgery and the cryptorchid surgery can be extremely expensive. For those who might be wondering, when a stallion is a “cryptorchid”, it means one of his testicles did not drop and is floating around or stuck somewhere in his abdomen.

Right now, all I am concerned about is raising funds so we can responsibly pick up this horse BEFORE it is too late. Look at that face. I am sorry but as far as I can tell he is NOT READY for a bullet in the head. PLEASE HELP us save his life.

He absolutely will need special care, but he does NOT deserve to die because he is a special needs kind of kid.

Please help us raise the funds for hauling, vetting, long term care and feed. As y’all know the list goes on and on, lol.

“Miracle” needs to come to Chilly Pepper – MIracle Mustang asap!! I simply cannot do it without your help.

Jax update. Jax has a serious and very deep injury. We still do not know if his bone has been, or how badly it has been affected. This is not going to be an easy or quick fix. He is on pain meds and antibiotics and getting the best care possible. His muscle was badly torn and we are following Doc’s instructions as always.

Need to make this quick. Thank you for all the love and support. Out of the 10 orphans from WA, Danniell Dustin took all but one for me. As my bone is broken around my prosthetic, I am not really supposed to do anything right now. Sadly Cherry was so badly injured she wouldn’t have made the trailer ride, so I kept her with me.

I have needed to hire help pretty much daily, and I cannot thank y’all enough for your wonderful donations. I am not ok to type more than a few minutes, but wanted to say thank you and please keep helping Chilly Pepper. We did get Doc in WA paid off. Woohoo – Thank you, and I am still needing to pay Doc in NV.

I need to order small hay bales, and keep hiring someone to handle the daily chores at this point. The quad is down and needs to go to the shop. I will need it as soon as I can use my arm again. :)

Everyone is doing extremely well here at Chilly Pepper, and it is all because of YOU, MY CHILLY PEPPER FAMILY. I am sure I am forgetting stuff, and hopefully will be able to do a better update soon.

Please help us finish paying the vet bill in NV and order the small hay bales. Cherry needs her baby grain and milk pellets and I am just so grateful for each and every penny donated. Good help is hard to find and when I do find it, I need to pay them so nothing goes to the wayside while I am healing.

Good morning

Thank you for your help. Sadly, I am going to need lots of extra help for a while.

I am in Goldendale with Cherry. She was too badly injured to head to Idaho with the rest of the kids. Her ankle is badly injured and slowly improving with the meds and the clay treatment.

The one picture shows the water I am squirting into one of the puncture wounds, coming out of one of the other holes. That was a good sign as it did not go through her leg or appear to enter the joint cavity.

My shoulder is pretty much excruciating, but I am grateful to God that I have been able to take care of Cherry. Doing shots one handed is not the easiest. This beautiful little girl is so sweet that we have had zero issues when I am treating her.

Our vet bill in Goldendale is now down to $2052. Thank you everyone who has helped. We still owe Doc in Nevada as well, and I believe that is right around $1000. We are looking right around $3000 left to pay off the vets. I also need to pay the folks taking care of the NV kids while I am stuck here.

Cherry needs more milk pellets, baby grain and some good hay. She is doing a tiny bit better each day. However she is still not out of the woods yet.

I am running short on clay and of course having to hire folks to take care of the critters in NV.

I cannot begin to express my appreciation for all the love and support. I am a bit frustrated from the new pain, but also grateful everything worked out with the babies and I am able to care for Cherry.

Typing is extremely painful and I hope this makes sense. Please know that every penny is appreciated and please pray for Cherry and that this does not affect the prosthetic in my shoulder.

Chilly Pepper – Dire situation for baby donkey. SHREK is crashing. Emergency Vet Visit. He needs your help!

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

Baby Donkey Shrek is only 5 days old and crashing. His situation is critical and he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency plasma transfusion, fluids and meds.

Shrek’s Mom decided she did not want him, and would not let him nurse. We are not sure if this is because she is still a baby at only about 2 years old, or if she knows something is wrong with Shrek and is behaving like they do in the wild. She was starting to get pretty rough with him and it was clear he had to be pulled immediately.

In the wild, if a baby is sick or has something wrong, the babies are often just left behind or even killed.

Please help us help Shrek. His plasma was over $500??? and this is just the beginning. He also needs lots of prayers. We are in 24/7 Critical care mode and he is literally hour by hour.

YOU SAVED 8 orphaned mustang babies. THANK YOU!

Will you help me save another life? Meet “Lil Man”, who is anything but little. He is a BLM kid and was working on his 3rd strike. We all know what that means. He is one of the homeliest, goofiest looking kids we have ever tried to save, but man is he sweet, and I couldn’t “not” give him a chance. I said yes on Faith and the trust that y’all always come through for these precious souls.

He was a “medical”, which means I was told he most likely needed surgery on his hocks as the guesstimated diagnosis was OCD. His legs look horrible and he is just a hot mess, but wants to run and play. Doc said give him a chance and let him grow into the mess that is his body.

He would not have had any chance of living if he was deemed needing surgery, so we were asked to give him his last chance. I could not wait on the decision, as I only had a couple hours to make sure he was safe. The folks at BLM were amazing and helped me get through the paperwork, as he had been “returned” by someone else previously.

Apparently, his body is growing way too fast and his poor joints are not keeping up and they often end up with bone chips floating around causing pain and crippling issues. His left front foot buckles horribly to the side when he moves and is tired. He is just a baby, about 3 years old, and the look in his eyes was “please give me a chance”.

We really need more help with milk pellets and powder and to pay off the vet bill. The babies are going through a bucket of milk powder about every 5 days, in addition to milk pellets. We had a wonderful donation for big bales of hay, but the babies need small bales and a completely different mix. They also need their special baby grain. We were blessed to have Dustin Time come and take some of the babies to their rescue. However Chilly Pepper incurred all the initial costs and still have babies. Arielle is doing much better, (the one who was attacked by the mountain lion), although we needed a special vet visit and I also need more clay for her. She says THANK YOU!

I was told when they found Arielle they said we have 2 choices. We either turn her loose and let nature take it’s course, or “I know a lady”. Thankfully, they brought her to me.

Hi,

We have raised about $800. That will barely cover fuel. I am supposed to be getting the babies in a few hours. We NEED funds for milk powder and to take care of them.

WE ARE SHORT ABOUT $2500 I CANNOT take babies if I cannot feed them.

I am struggling to believe that we cannot even raise enough funds to save 3 babies. I know the economy is tough, and I have to let him know if he can count on Chilly Pepper in the future.

Fundraising is exhausting, and maybe it is just time to step back, at least from these longer distant rescues. I am truly at a loss.

Please, we need to save these babies.

Hi,

3 Orphans need your help asap. I am actually on the road to hopefully pick up all 3 babies if we can get the funds. The babies are currently standing alone in the pen, waiting for us to come and buy them and give them a chance at a great life.

We need funds to save them, vet them, buy milk etc. and to get me up there to get them. Please help save them. I cannot do it without you.

Fuel to pick up and bring home $800 round trip

Brand inspection $30

Shavings for a week – $10

Hire help back at the rescue in NV while I am gone $25-50 PER DAY depending on the needs of the moment.

Vetting $200 for farm call for wild, vetting and health certificate if no complications or special needs. Popeye’s bill will be much higher due to his critical condition. He is feeling much better now though. We still need to pay that as well.

I NEED HELP TO SAVE THESE BABIES. I committed before we had to repair the truck. Please help me keep my word and save these 3 babies. I should be there in about 8 or 9 hours, and I need to know if we can save them all.

I am not sure if we will be able to keep doing this in the future, but for now, we NEED to save these babies.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped get the truck fixed. I do need to renew the US Rider insurance as well. It can be life saving for the horses as well as myself.

Chilly Pepper – Small travel crisis. Popeye needs you to fix his truck.

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:

When it rains it pours. I really need help to get the truck back on the road.

After picking up Popeye, getting him vetted and starting home, the truck began to vibrate, and it just didn’t “feel right”. Long story short, I listened to the voice in my head and leaned on plain ole experience. There was something very wrong so I pulled over.

After $500 for towing, (US Rider covered $1200), and finding out what happened, I need $2100 to cover the costs and pick up the truck today. TWO of my tires were separating. We have no idea why, but it would have been a train wreck and It could have been deadly. So now I need 4 new ones and they are making sure everything else is good to go. Conveniently, US Rider expires so I have to pay that renewal this week as well. Another unexpected $400, but well worth it. They are amazing.

We raised enough funds to get Popeye picked up, Thank you! (fuel is about $350 one way), and we paid for Popeye and had some milk money. That is not hiring a hauler, and me and my broken leg doing it for free. Fuel is crazy expensive.

I am really worried about the future, and wondering if we will be able to keep doing this. I know things are tough, and I have AT LEAST 3 BABIES I am waiting to pick up and MOST LIKELY there will be more. We haven’t even begun to cover Popeye’s vet bill or food for even a month. I am very concerned that I will not be able to say yes to saving the upcoming orphans. However, if we don’t get the truck back on the road, I will definitely not be able to grab the foals we are standing by for.

They are fixing the truck as I type this, and calling for payment this afternoon, I told them I needed some time and started praying. lol

I am so grateful I listened to that voice. God always keeps us safe, and it had driven 1300 miles in the last 3 days, and broke down in a safe place with actual phone service. God is good and He has kept the rescue kids and I safe so many times.

I really appreciate your help! (I was supposed to be spending my birthday with my grandson, not grabbing babies lol). But Popeye is worth it.
