Protect the Welfare of Your Equine
(Page43) Protect the health and welfare of your equine! Never leave a halter on an unsupervised equine and make sure that fly masks are loose enough that they will come off easily of they get snagged on anything. Do not tether your equine without supervision. It is too easy for your equine to become ensnared in the halter or rope and possibly suffer rope burns, choking or worse. When in turnout, the conditions should be safe for him with adequate fencing and the right turnout partners. Keep you Longears from opening gates by putting chains with Carabineer snaps on every gate and Carabiner snaps on every stall latch. The Carabineer snaps do not have anything they can grab with their teeth to force it open. Check the condition of your fences each day and check hot wires. They are masters at grounding out the hotwires causing them to cease to work! With good routine management and training practices, your equine will learn to come to you at any time from his turnout, even when on grass, and he will appreciate the care and safety you provide.
