Wow, Sometimes you walk outside and want to quit. Of course that was while panicking thinking our beautiful girl’s tongue was hanging out.
Thankfully her tongue is perfect.
This obviously was considered an emergency as we did not know how much internal damage we were looking at. I could have avoided the vet bill and removed the chunk myself, but since I am not a vet, I needed to call Doc ASAP.
So much of the critical care I do myself, and that saves the rescue tremendous amounts of money, but when it comes to injuries like this, I need Doc to guide me and make sure we are doing the absolute best for her.
He doesn’t think her jaw is broken, and that she just needs time to heal. So for now she is back on milk. She was on pellets, grain and hay, but until her little mouth is healed and she learns how to eat and drink again with her newly shaped mouth, she gets milk!! She is basically “milking her injury”, as she calls out to me whenever she feels thirsty, and I come running (hobbling lol) as fast as I can.
Tabitha needs “milk money”, or buckets of milk. I only have one on hand for emergencies, and it won’t last a week. Please help our beautiful girl. Doc had no idea how it could have happened, maybe the colt next to her bit or kicked or when they were playing? We won’t ever know, but all we can do is get her healthy and healed.
I think this is why they say never pay off a credit card or a vet bill.
Now we have an emergency vet bill, as well as needing to pay to get “Bear”, the stray pup neutered, vaccinated and ready for adoption, and I need to order milk powder asap!
