| We are deeply saddened to share that over the weekend, we helped Music across the Rainbow Bridge. Music’s response to food and treatment wasn’t progressing, and his appetite and energy were inconsistent and declining. A visit from the vet to give him fluids quickly changed when something shifted within him. The moment turned into a quick decision to help him across the Rainbow Bridge. Sad as it was, it was the kindest thing we could do.
A necropsy was performed, and preliminary results indicate he was dealing with liver disease. We’ll know more when we get final results.
Music enjoyed the company of humans, and this sweet old man definitely appreciated the love and kindness he was given by our volunteers. Special thank to Leah and Kim for spending some nights with him.
After some time to say goodbye, Music’s pal, Pancho, was introduced to some smaller furry kids to help him through his loss, and we think his new friends, Zeke and Jelly Roll, are doing just that.
On a side note, Pancho had his dental last week, and while he was sedated, the farrier went to work on his hooves. They look amazing, and Pancho is adjusting to his new “feet”. They seem to be feeling a little better every day.
Thank you to everyone that helped give Music and Pancho get the second chance they deserved. Sadly, we don’t always get the outcome we want, but it helps knowing Music’s final days were filled with loving care in a safe place with a buffet full of good food (aka, several variations of alfalfa). Fortunately, Pancho seems to be headed in the right direction.
If you weren’t able to donate previously, and you’d like to honor Music and help with his veterinary costs (and Pancho’s, too), we’d appreciate the help. You can click the button below to donate.
Thank you! |
