A Big Boo-quet of Thanks to Our Volunteers This October!
The following is from All About Equine Animal Rescue:

As the leaves turn and the air grows crisp, we’re feeling extra grateful for our volunteers, the true heartbeat of our herd!
Your dedication keeps things running smoothly (and sometimes even a little spook-tacularly) around the ranch. We couldn’t do it without you!
Today, we’re spotlighting two of our amazing volunteers as well as introducing you to a new member of our team!
Meet Jennifer B.!
AAE Volunteer for 5 years!

What do you do as an AAE Volunteer?
Shift lead, help horses heal, feed horses, but mostly love and take care of the horses, some photography, and adoptions.
What do you love about AAE and/or volunteering at AAE?
I love that we help so many horses. I’m thankful for the friends I have found at AAE. It is a healing place to be.
Who is your favorite AAE horse and why?
Tio. Him and I had such a strong bond that I can’t explain. He helped me so much after my son died. Weird to say, but he helped me keep going. We also both had a lot of physical pain so we just got each other. I miss him so much.
Meet Jeanie H.!
AAE Volunteer for 2 years!

What do you do as an AAE Volunteer?
Assist with animal care, including feeding, mucking, miscellaneous cleaning and grooming.
What do you love about AAE and/or volunteering at AAE?
I love being part of such a wonderful organization that truly cares for the health and well-being of horses. It is truly inspiring to see these neglected or otherwise cast aside souls flourish in a such a caring environment.
Who is your favorite AAE horse and why?
Rimes (pictured above) and Trinity are my favorites. I love their spicy personalities! It is very rewarding to see how they have developed trust, in large part due to the consistency of care they now receive at AAE.
Introducing Intern Anna! |
| Please help us welcome Anna K. She joins us through a Monty Roberts connection, Denise Heinlein, Monty Roberts Certified Instructor in Germany. Anna is our first Pilot Hill intern, spending 90 days with AAE to gain experience and learning about caring for and rehabilitating rescue horses in America.
“My big dream was always to get some day to America, and as I had the chance to get this internship here on the Horse Rescue Farm, I took the chance, and here we go!
My background is a whole life of being with animals as I grew up on a cattle farm with horses and a big race barn with about 70 horses at my grandpa’s. As I grew up like this, I like it to work outside with animals, and for me it is a great basis to explore America. ”
Besides learning about and helping horses, Anna has some American dreams, and she’s hoping some adventurous AAE volunteers might help her fulfill some of those dreams.
“While here, I’d really love to go to a rodeo, see large cattle farms, go and visit an Western barn where reining horses are trained, meet some REAL Cowboys, not the fake ones! Go in some nice bars where locals (and Cowboys) go to, go somewhere where live Country music is played, go line dancing, go and get some boots and a Cowboy hat, see some Mustangs in the wild, also going to wilder and more open landscapes like in Montana or Nevada…go to Virginia City, and the Ponderosa (I’m a Bonanza fan), go to San Francisco and buy me a new Guitar (or somewhere else, I just want to get one from America, because I am also a Country singer and a big fan of the American Country music). I don’t know how is the today’s music culture in San Francisco, but if there is some, I would really appreciate to get in some.”
If none of those align with your interests, she has more….
“Have a little hike in the Yosemite National Park or El Dorado National Forest or somewhere else, go to some lake and swimming, see the Folsom Prison where Johnny Cash sang. Maybe go to some open stage evening where it’s possible to sing on a little stage, and have a fire & music evening together.”
I really appreciate to work with you all guys and hope we going to have a good time together. I am working every day morning and afternoon, except for Saturdays and Sundays.
See you at the barn!”
Anna
If you’re an AAE volunteer that would like to fulfill one of Anna’s American dreams, reply, and we’ll make the connection. |
